Battle Row Campground Introduce
For New Yorkers seeking a nature-filled escape without a grueling drive upstate, Battle Row Campground offers a surprisingly secluded retreat right in the heart of Nassau County. Spanning 44 acres of dense woods and lush greenery in Old Bethpage, this county-operated park provides a unique opportunity to swap the concrete jungle for a canopy of oak and maple trees. It is widely considered one of Long Island’s best-kept secrets, serving as a peaceful sanctuary where the sounds of the city are replaced by the rustle of leaves and the calls of local wildlife. Whether you are a local looking for a weekend staycation or a traveler exploring the historical landmarks of New York, this campground offers a welcoming and friendly atmosphere that makes every visitor feel at home.
Battle Row Campground is more than just a place to park an RV or pitch a tent; it is a community hub where outdoor enthusiasts and families gather to enjoy the simpler things in life. The property is impeccably maintained, with expansive grounds that invite long morning walks and afternoon exploration. Its reputation among regular campers is built on the helpfulness of the staff and the positive energy shared between neighbors. For many, it serves as a "basecamp" for exploring the surrounding region, offering a quiet place to return to after a busy day at the nearby beaches or touring the mansions of the Gold Coast. The park's ability to remain so tranquil while being located in a major metropolitan area is truly its most impressive feat.
Location and Accessibility
Conveniently located at 1 Claremont Road in Old Bethpage, NY 11804, Battle Row Campground is remarkably easy to reach for residents across the tri-state area. It sits just south of Plainview and is easily accessible via the Long Island Expressway (Exit 48 South) or the Northern State Parkway. For those who prefer to leave the car behind, the campground is only a 5-to-10-minute drive from the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) stations in Hicksville or Bethpage, which provide direct and frequent service into Manhattan’s Penn Station or Grand Central Terminal, typically in about an hour.
Accessibility is a high priority at the park, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the great outdoors. The facility features a wheelchair-accessible entrance, dedicated parking spots for those with mobility needs, and accessible restroom facilities. The layout of the campground is organized around a main loop with several connecting roads, most of which are flat or have very gentle slopes, making it easy for walkers, cyclists, and those using mobility aids to navigate. Its central location also means that modern conveniences, including supermarkets, big-box retailers, and local restaurants, are all within a few miles of the park gates.

Contact Information
To plan your visit or inquire about current site availability, you can reach the Battle Row Campground office directly. The physical address for arrivals is 1 Claremont Rd, Old Bethpage, NY 11804, USA. Because this is a popular destination, especially during the summer and during major local events, it is highly recommended to call ahead for reservations.
The main phone number for the campground is (516) 572-8690. For mobile users, you can dial +1 516-572-8690. The park is managed by the Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums, and while the RV sites are often available year-round, tent sites are typically seasonal. Be sure to have your vehicle dimensions and preferred dates ready when calling, and remember to ask about resident rates if you live in Nassau County.
What is worth choosing
When booking a stay at Battle Row Campground, it is well worth choosing one of the 50-amp sites if your rig supports it, as these tend to be located in the most spacious sections of the park, providing a bit more elbow room for your outdoor setup. For families, selecting a site near the central playground area is a smart choice, as it allows for easy supervision of children while you enjoy the comfort of your campsite. If you are a tent camper, aiming for a site in the more densely wooded areas toward the back of the property will provide the best "escape from the city" feel and maximum shade during the hot New York summer.
Furthermore, it is highly worth choosing to use Battle Row as a central hub for a "Long Island History Tour." Within a short drive, you can visit the Old Bethpage Village Restoration to step back into the 19th century, or head east to see the iconic Montauk Point Lighthouse. Even a day trip into Brooklyn or Manhattan is incredibly easy, making this campground a high-value choice compared to expensive city hotels. Finally, don't forget to take advantage of the expansive walking trails on the property—early morning walks here are particularly beautiful when the sun filters through the trees, making it clear why this "oasis" is so beloved by New York locals. Would you like me to look up the current camping rates or seasonal opening dates for the tent sites?

Customer Reviews
This place is Great!!! The staff is super friendly and helpful and the other RV owners are super friendly and helpful, there is a nice energy here. Depending on the size of your RV is how they charge you. Mine is 23feet long. You are provided a spot and allowed one vehicle as well. They have Clean showers and bathrooms onsite. plus there is expansive property to go for a walk, they are also Pet Friendly. What more can you ask for ?
We stayed here in May while visiting my son who lives in Brooklyn. It's a very nice campground. Once you go through the gate you wouldn't know you are in a large metropolitan area. It's close to several historical places to visit, such as the Hamptons, Montauk Point Lighthouse, Fire Island Lighthouse. If we were in the area, we would camp here again.
Beautiful oasis! Dump station on the driveway out.Spacious RV sites. Plenty of room to walk the dogs. Clean bathrooms. Nice office staff. About an hour from New York city.5-10 min drive to Long Island Railroad.
One of the nicer RV parks we have been to. It is quiet, spots are big enough for large rigs, grass area with table and charcoal grill, and a large field with playground. Friendly front office. 50 amp hook up spots. I highly recommend if you are staying in Long Island - great central location. On-site bathroom could use an update.
Campground rules... You Cannot Stay Longer then 14 Days.So I watched campers just move from one campsite to another after their 14 days are up. 🤦Sooo stupid!!! They're still here past their 14 days! Doesn't matter that it's another campsite.🤷♀️This is unfair to new campers who are trying to camp here. And the sites are always full! Some of these campers look like seasonal. They bring all soughts of stuff with them and lay it out all over the campsite 🤬Some picnic tables need to be replaced
