Big Bear Camp Introduce

For those looking to capture the quintessential Pennsylvania outdoor experience, Big Bear Camp in Hawley serves as a premier destination. Nestled within the picturesque landscapes of Wayne County, this campground is much more than just a place to pitch a tent or park an RV; it is a vibrant, family-oriented community. Known for its welcoming atmosphere and commitment to safety, Big Bear Camp has become a localized staple for residents and visitors who want to enjoy the natural beauty of the Poconos while having access to modern comforts and a social neighborhood environment. The property is designed to foster lasting memories, offering a retreat where children can play freely and adults can unwind in the fresh mountain air.

The character of Big Bear Camp is defined by its dual nature as both a seasonal campground and a gated community. Unlike transient sites that see a constant rotation of strangers, this location prides itself on a "member-owned" feel where many visitors return year after year. This creates a secure, tight-knit environment that local users find particularly appealing. The grounds are meticulously maintained, featuring wooded areas that provide natural shade and privacy. Whether you are seeking a quiet weekend of fishing or a busy week of community activities, the camp strikes a balance that caters to the diverse needs of the modern Pennsylvania camper.

Location and accessibility are among the top highlights for Big Bear Camp. Situated at 422 T395 (off Route 590) in Hawley, PA 18428, the campground is perfectly positioned in Paupack Township. For local travelers, it is a convenient drive from Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, and the Lehigh Valley, making it an ideal choice for a weekend getaway that doesn't require a full day of travel. Its proximity to Lake Wallenpaupack—one of Pennsylvania's largest and most popular recreation lakes—is a significant draw. The campground is located just three miles from a public boat launch, allowing guests to easily transition from the quiet of the woods to the excitement of boating, jet skiing, and lakefront dining.

Accessibility within the park is also a priority. The gated entrance ensures that traffic is limited to residents and registered guests, which enhances the safety of the interior roads for children on bicycles and golf carts. The community layout is intuitive, with clearly marked sites and well-maintained gravel roads. For those coming from outside the immediate area, the camp is easily reachable via major state routes, providing a smooth journey through the scenic rolling hills of Northeastern Pennsylvania. On-site parking is provided, ensuring that once you arrive, your vehicle is conveniently located near your designated site or cabin.
