Boulder Point Campground Introduce
For residents of the New York metropolitan area and the surrounding Hudson Valley, finding a getaway that balances proximity with a genuine sense of wilderness is a top priority. Boulder Point Campground, nestled in the scenic town of Pine Bush, New York, serves as a premier destination for those looking to swap city skylines for the rugged beauty of the Shawangunk Ridge. Spanning 40 acres of diverse landscape, including dense forests, rolling wetlands, and massive glacial boulders, this private campground provides an intimate alternative to the often-crowded state park facilities nearby. It is a place designed for those who value quiet nights, dark skies, and the simple joy of a campfire under the stars.
The campground is situated on a quiet dead-end road, ensuring that the only sounds you hear are the rustling leaves and the occasional call of local wildlife. Unlike many commercial parks that prioritize high-density occupancy, Boulder Point emphasizes a spacious, relaxed atmosphere. The property features miles of private trails that meander through its 40-acre expanse, allowing guests to explore small streams and unique geological formations without ever leaving the grounds. Its location is particularly strategic for outdoor enthusiasts, as it sits at the doorstep of the "Gunks," a region world-renowned for its hiking, rock climbing, and breathtaking vistas.
Located at 252 Sinsabaugh Rd, Pine Bush, NY 12566, the campground is remarkably accessible for local travelers. For those coming from New York City, the drive is approximately 75 miles, typically taking just under an hour and a half. This makes it a perfect choice for a spontaneous weekend trip or a mid-week escape from the suburbs. Its proximity to towns like New Paltz and Kingston also means that while you are deep in the woods, you are never far from local gourmet restaurants, craft breweries, and the celebrated Hudson Valley Wine Trail.

What makes Boulder Point Campground truly worth choosing is its successful marriage of rugged outdoor living and thoughtful modern conveniences. While many public campgrounds in the region can feel institutional or overly restricted, Boulder Point maintains a private, boutique feel that prioritizes the guest experience. It is the ideal choice for a group of friends wanting a central hub for a hiking weekend, or a family looking to introduce their children to nature in a safe, clean, and engaging environment. The new bathhouse and hot showers are a significant upgrade over many neighboring options, providing that touch of comfort that makes a long day on the trails much more rewarding.
Additionally, for those who love the idea of camping but perhaps don't want to "rough it" entirely, the vintage camper rentals and glamping sites offer a stylish way to enjoy the Pine Bush wilderness. Whether you are coming to climb the world-famous cliffs of the Shawangunks, visit the nearby Angry Orchard cidery, or simply sit by a fire with your dog, Boulder Point Campground offers a high-quality, authentic Hudson Valley experience. We Camped at Boulder Point during Memorial Day Weekend. We were a large group escaping the NYC quarantine and we really had a fantastic time. Really close to the city, which made it really easy to get to and at the same time, far away from it all. The woods and open areas are really beautiful. There are no RVs, which makes the night really quiet (no lights, no motor noise). Friendly and chilled campground staff and dogs, who stopped by (maybe a tad too often, especially the dogs) and asked if you needed anything. It was very easy to communicate with the owner. Close to very nice hikes and with a very convenient ice machine! There were comfy tables and chairs at each site. We are already planning our next visit!
Really enjoyed my stay here with a group of 7 people. Kayla (sorry if spelling is not correct) at the front desk was really lovely and helpful! There is a small campstore with firewood, fire starter, coffee, snacks, etc. A few single person public bathrooms w/shower for the campground. Bathrooms were new and clean. The campsites were different sizes, so its best to call and ask which might be best to accommodate your group...ie I don't think our three tents would have fit on one of the smaller sites. Each site has a small grill, picnic table, firepit and two chairs. It was really pleasant that the campground wasn't crowded. It's the priciest campground I've ever been to, but I made the choice to stay here because the public campgrounds nearby had poor reviews. We were all happy with our choice and enjoyed the stay! Thank you!
Great camp ground. Been here for days. I love the new bathrooms, so clean and nice. The campground attendant is a sweet heart. The free ice was awesome. It was quiet and beautiful.
My friends and I had a great long weekend stay camping at Boulder Point Campground. Each campsite has a grill, fire ring, and table. Plenty of space for our two tents and hammocks for the group of four. The restrooms were cleaned each morning and well stocked. Richard kindly brought firewood over to our campsite since we were out too late. Everyone in the campgrounds were very kind or kept to themselves. The location of the site was in good proximity to some trails that we were looking forward to hike and it was an overall great experience!
Richard S. Was a great Memorial Day weekend host! We originally had site 18 which was nice and secluded but a lot of caterpillars. For our second night Richard let us move to site 4 which was perfect! The only downfall is that most of the campsites are on a slight slant. We really enjoyed our stay overall and we would definitely return!
