Circle 'C' Campground, Inc Introduce

Circle 'C' Campground, Inc. stands as a quintessential New England outdoor retreat, offering a "home away from home" atmosphere that has welcomed generations of campers to the quiet corner of Voluntown, Connecticut. Nestled along the eastern edge of the state near the Rhode Island border, this family-owned and operated campground specializes in providing a wholesome, old-fashioned camping experience. Whether you are a seasoned RVer or a tent enthusiast looking to reconnect with nature, Circle 'C' provides a rustic yet well-equipped environment designed to foster community and family bonding. The park is particularly known for its focus on children's activities and its scenic position near the shores of the 83-acre Bailey Pond.

For residents of Connecticut, the campground represents an accessible escape from the faster pace of the state’s more urban centers. It is managed with a personal touch that many visitors describe as being treated like family, a trait that has helped maintain a high number of seasonal campers who return year after year. The property balances the rugged beauty of the surrounding Pachaug State Forest with modern amenities, ensuring that guests can enjoy the outdoors without sacrificing essential comforts. From planned weekend events at the recreation hall to quiet mornings spent fishing on the pond, the campground offers a versatile range of experiences for all ages.

Location and accessibility are among the top draws for this destination. Situated at 21 Bailey Pond Rd, Voluntown, CT 06384, Circle 'C' Campground is easily reachable via major Connecticut routes like I-395 and Route 138. Its location is ideal for those who want to explore the "Last Green Valley" National Heritage Corridor or take a short drive to the coastal attractions of Mystic and the Rhode Island beaches. The campground itself is designed to be inclusive, featuring wheelchair-accessible entrances and parking lots, ensuring that the beauty of the Voluntown woods is available to everyone. On-site parking is plentiful, and the layout of the park allows for easy maneuvering of larger RV units.

The services offered at Circle 'C' Campground are comprehensive, catering to a wide variety of camping styles. The facility provides over 100 sites, ranging from pine-shaded tent spots to full-hookup RV sites. For those who prefer a solid roof over their heads, rustic cabin rentals are also available, providing a middle ground between traditional camping and a hotel stay. The campground is equipped with modern infrastructure to support long-term seasonal stays or short weekend getaways, including 30 and 50 amp electrical service and on-site pump-out services. The management also operates a mini convenience store at the office where guests can stock up on essentials like ice, firewood, and even ice cream.

  • RV camping with full electric (30/50 amp) and water hookups.
  • Dedicated primitive and lakeside tent camping sites with fire pits.
  • Rustic one-room cabin rentals (ideal for families up to five).
  • High-speed Wi-Fi access throughout the park for staying connected.
  • Clean, modern public restrooms and hot shower facilities.
  • On-site propane filling station and dumping station for RV travelers.

  • Laundry facilities and a recreation hall for community gatherings.

Features and highlights of the campground emphasize active, outdoor play and community engagement. The centerpiece of the park is undoubtedly Bailey Pond, which offers some of the finest bass fishing in the region. For families with children, the park is a playground in the truest sense; kids are often seen participating in "frogging" (catch-and-release), swimming in the spring-fed pond, or playing on the well-maintained slides and swings. Throughout the summer season, the campground hosts organized activities that bring the community together, such as hayrides, pot-luck dinners, bingo nights, and family dances. These events create a nostalgic, camp-like atmosphere that encourages children to put down their electronics and embrace a more traditional way of vacationing.

  • Spring-fed swimming pond with a sandy beach area.
  • Exceptional fishing opportunities on the 83-acre Bailey Pond (rowboat and canoe rentals available).
  • Planned community events including themed weekend dances, crafts, and breakfasts.
  • Extensive recreational facilities including a basketball court, volleyball court, and tetherball.
  • Pet-friendly environment where dogs are welcome to join the family adventure.
  • Proximity to the Pachaug State Forest trail system for hiking and nature walks.
  • Arcade games and horseshoes for friendly competition among guests.
  • Large group camping areas for scouts, youth groups, or family reunions.

Prospective visitors or those interested in securing a seasonal site for the upcoming summer can reach out to the management via phone. Given the popularity of holiday weekends and the limited number of cabin rentals, it is recommended to book in advance. The campground typically operates from mid-April through mid-October, aligning with the beautiful Connecticut spring and fall foliage seasons.

What is worth choosing about Circle 'C' Campground is the rare combination of professional facility management and a deeply personal, welcoming culture. In an era where many campgrounds are becoming corporate-owned, Circle 'C' remains a local small business where the owners are actively involved in the daily experience of their guests. It is the ideal choice for parents and grandparents who want to provide their children with a "wholesome" experience—one filled with campfires, starry nights, and outdoor exploration. The cleanliness of the restrooms and the friendliness of the long-term seasonal residents further enhance the sense of security and comfort.

Additionally, the value proposition at Circle 'C' is strong for Connecticut residents. It offers a high-quality resort experience without the premium pricing found closer to the shoreline. The ability to launch your own boat or rent one on-site provides hours of entertainment on the water, while the proximity to the state forest means you are never more than a few steps away from a hiking trail. For those seeking a place where they can truly relax and watch their children play safely in a natural setting, Circle 'C' Campground is a standout destination in the Voluntown area.

This is my third year coming to Circle C & I look forward to it every summer. The kids always have a blast. From catch & releasing frogs, swimming, fishing, to their family dances and events in the rec hall. It’s nice to have a good wholesome family spot. The owners are amazing. And the other seasonals are very friendly. It really is our home away from home!

We visited Circle C Campground mid August of this year (2024), and had a wonderful time. Our tent site was adjacent to Bailey Pond, probably the largest tent site available. We had two tents, a screened-in gazebo, the supplied picnic table, a fire pit (one at every site), and a parked car...with room to spare. For kids to do, there's:- Swimming- Fishing- Tetherball- Swings/slide- Frogging (catch-and-release)- Boating (row boat or canoe)- Ice Cream at the office storeThe bathrooms and showers were very clean, and the owners were really nice; treating me like a regular whom they've known for 20 years.Circle C Campground is a great place for parents (or grandparents) to get the kids off their electronics and enjoy a slower, nature-rich way of vacationing.
