Crown Point Camping Area Introduce

Crown Point Camping Area is a premier destination for outdoor enthusiasts looking to experience the natural beauty of the Green Mountains in Central Vermont. Nestled within a mature pine plantation, this family-owned and operated campground provides a serene environment characterized by towering trees and a soft carpet of pine needles. Whether you are seeking a weekend getaway with the family or a seasonal home for your RV, the facility offers a perfect blend of shaded retreats and sunny open spaces, all located just above the scenic shores of Stoughton Pond.

The campground is designed to cater to a wide variety of camping styles, from traditional tent enthusiasts to those traveling in large, modern motorhomes. The atmosphere at Crown Point is deeply rooted in the classic Vermont camping tradition—peaceful, rural, and community-oriented. Visitors often comment on the cleanliness of the grounds and the unique "state park" feel of the spacious, wooded sites, making it a standout choice for those who prefer nature over commercialized, pavement-heavy parks.

Located at 131 Bishop Camp Rd, Perkinsville, VT 05151, the campground is easily accessible for travelers coming from various directions. It sits in a convenient location for those exploring the Upper Valley or the Southern Green Mountain region. Visitors coming from the north via I-91 can take Exit 8 toward Ascutney, while those arriving from the south can use Exit 7 in Springfield. The proximity to local landmarks like North Springfield Lake and Ascutney Mountain makes it an ideal basecamp for regional exploration. Please note that the facility features a wheelchair-accessible entrance and dedicated parking to ensure all guests can enjoy the grounds comfortably.

  • Full RV hookup sites including water, sewer, and 30-amp or 50-amp electrical service.
  • Spacious pull-thru sites designed to accommodate larger rigs and "big rigs" with ease.
  • Dedicated tent camping areas for those seeking a more rustic, off-the-grid experience.
  • Seasonal camping options for both the summer and winter months.
  • On-site services including a camp store stocked with firewood, LP gas, ice, and ice cream.
  • Three clean, full-facility bathhouses featuring hot showers that are free for guests.
  • Laundromat facilities located near the main office for guest convenience.
  • WiFi access available throughout the park to help guests stay connected.
  • Direct access to the VAST (Vermont Association of Snow Travelers) snowmobile trail network for winter visitors.

One of the primary highlights of Crown Point Camping Area is the Crown Point Lagoon, a specialized swimming area that serves as a centerpiece for summer fun. The lagoon often features built-in water rafts, providing hours of entertainment for children and a refreshing escape for adults. Beyond the water, the campground is active with scheduled events that foster a sense of community among guests, including themed weekends and social gatherings.

  • The Crown Point Lagoon for swimming and family water activities.
  • On-site recreation including mini-golf, shuffleboard, horseshoes, and a basketball court.
  • A large children's playground featuring slides, swings, and a shaded tent for parents.
  • Extensive hiking and mountain biking trails that connect directly from the property.
  • Access to a boat launch for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing on Stoughton Pond.
  • Regularly scheduled family activities such as fire truck rides, bingo, and potluck dinners.
  • Saturday night bonfires that bring campers together under the Vermont night sky.
  • Pet-friendly policies that allow well-behaved dogs to join the family adventure.

For those planning a visit or needing to confirm site availability, the management can be reached through multiple channels. For immediate assistance or to discuss specific site requirements, you can contact the main office at (802) 263-5555. If you are calling from a mobile device or outside the local area, the number is +1 802-263-5555. The physical address for GPS navigation is 131 Bishop Camp Rd, Perkinsville, VT 05151, USA. It is recommended to call ahead for current rates and to secure a reservation, especially during the peak summer season between May and October.

Choosing Crown Point Camping Area means choosing an authentic Vermont experience. Unlike many modern campgrounds that can feel crowded or cramped, Crown Point prioritizes space and privacy. The wooded nature of the sites ensures that you feel immersed in the forest, yet you remain close to modern amenities like clean restrooms and a well-stocked camp store. It is particularly worth choosing if you have children, as the combination of the swimming lagoon, playground, and organized "fire truck rides" makes it a paradise for younger campers.

Additionally, the campground's versatility is a major draw. It is one of the few local areas that successfully transitions from a bustling summer destination to a quiet, strategic hub for winter sports. With direct access to snowmobile trails and proximity to major ski areas, it serves the local Vermont community year-round. Whether you are looking for a place to launch a boat, a trail to hike, or simply a quiet corner of the woods to roast a marshmallow, Crown Point provides a well-maintained and welcoming environment to do so.

We booked spontaneously a spot for tent camping at Crown Point with our toddler to visit Vermont over the weekend and we loved it. It's a peaceful, beautifully clean kept campground in the mountains overseeing a lake. Thank You for making us feel welcome. We enjoyed it and recommend this spot to friends and family.

I wish this could have been different, the young lady at the desk was very nice when my wife and I got there. I got to the site and had no power, which I rented a site with power and water. I went back to the office to let someone know that I didn't have power and the owner was there, I waited patiently for her to get off the phone and explained my situation, I also said I checked the breakers and tried the resets, I was confronted with a "sucks being you". I was a little taken by surprise because I was not sure what was going on. it took me. second to respond and I said "well I guess so" and then she said she would send someone to look at. I left and went back to the site. no one came. luckily there was no on either camp sites around us and luckily I brought an extension cord. the next day no one came again, I live close so I drove home and grabbed a longer extension cord so it would reach our site. Never mind that the wood I bought was wet, so I grabbed my own wood from home, but that's not even a big deal either. I left Sunday with a bad feeling about what happened. My wife and I hadn't camped in 20+ yrs and thought we would give it shot again and this place was close and it looked nice. and this is how I confronted with a situation. the place is a clean place and very convenient but if you want to deal with someone like that, good luck.

We are very simple people, we just need a tent site in the woods, electricity and water not necessary--and the folks here not only came through, but we were impressed with the views from atop the boundary marker overlooking Stoughton Pond! Private, quiet--spacious.All of the neighbors (majority seasonal in RVs) also were super-friendly, sociable, good-natured people.Dog-friendly, kid-friendly...all you can hear at 10PM are the crickets and tree frogs.I love the history behind the Crown Point historical trail that stops up in Lake Champlain crossing into New York State as well, the cemetery across the street, and the picturesque views driving past on the way in of a local farm and meadow.Bathrooms are clean, showers are hot and free, WiFi is a cinch (though in a tent site we liked the off-the-grid feel).I cannot speak to going as an RV owner nor seasonal rate-holder, but as an old-school outdoorsy type like myself? It was perfect. My earliest memories are of this campground--In my fourth decade of life, it was so amazing to be back here after 36 years!Next time, we will save up and plan ahead to stay a week. We originally wanted to head to the shoreline and camp down Route 1, but--This was a much better choice, by far!

Kinda out of the way, off the beaten path. All wooded/shaded park...nice once you're in place, but not very conducive to manuevering a 43' 5th wheel to/from your site. Very quiet, some amenities, showers clean.

campground layout is very confusing. The campground is extremely shaded and dark. definitely not 1 of our favorite places.
