Four Springs Farm & Campground Introduce
Four Springs Farm & Campground offers a unique and immersive outdoor experience nestled in the heart of the Green Mountains. As a working 70-acre organic farm, this destination provides more than just a place to pitch a tent; it invites visitors to step into the rhythm of agricultural life in central Vermont. Located on a scenic southwest-facing ridge, the property is renowned for its spectacular sunsets and panoramic views that stretch across the valley to the distant mountain peaks. Whether you are a local Vermonter seeking a quiet weekend retreat or a traveler looking for an authentic farm-to-table atmosphere, this campground delivers a peaceful environment dedicated to nature and sustainability.
The farm operates with a mission of land stewardship and education, making it an ideal spot for those who appreciate low-impact camping. Managed by Jinny Cleland, who has decades of farming experience, the property features a diverse landscape of fertile fields, orchards, woodlots, and several year-round springs that give the farm its name. Guests can explore the various footbridges and trails that connect different sections of the acreage, discovering hidden streams and vibrant wildlife along the way. The atmosphere is intentionally quiet and rustic, providing a much-needed escape from the digital world and the hectic pace of modern life.
Location and accessibility are key highlights for visitors. Situated in South Royalton, the farm is conveniently located about halfway between Montpelier and White River Junction. It is easily reached via Interstate 89, being only four miles from the highway exit. The final approach involves traveling up Gee Hill Road, a journey that rewards visitors with increasing elevation and broadening views. Upon arrival, guests check in at the farmhouse, which serves as the central hub for the property’s many activities, including the on-site bakery and farm store where local goods are sold.

The features and highlights of Four Springs Farm & Campground are deeply rooted in the daily operations of the farm. One of the most cherished opportunities for guests is the invitation to "Tag-Along-On-Chores" in the morning. This hands-on experience allows children and adults alike to learn where their food comes from by helping feed the animals or collecting fresh eggs. The educational aspect of the farm is a cornerstone of the experience, fostering a deep connection between the visitors and the land they are staying on.
- Farm Chores: Guests can join the farmers at 8 a.m. to assist with morning tasks and learn about organic farming.
- Stargazing: Due to the lack of light pollution, clear nights offer breathtaking views of the Milky Way.

- Kid-Friendly Environment: Safe areas for children to explore, interact with farm animals, and enjoy nature.
- Wildlife Viewing: Abundant opportunities to spot local birds, deer, and other woodland creatures.
- Mountain Views: Uninterrupted vistas of the Green Mountain range from the westward-facing ridge.
- Sustainable Practices: A chance to stay on a Certified Organic farm that prioritizes soil health and biodiversity.
For those planning a visit, the campground is open seasonally from April through October. It is recommended to book in advance, especially during peak foliage season when the Vermont hillsides are ablaze with color. Because it is a working farm and voices carry easily across the ridges, a quiet-hours policy is enforced after dark to maintain the tranquil atmosphere for all guests and residents. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own lighting for the cabins and to be prepared for a "unplugged" experience, as the focus is on reconnecting with the natural environment.

Such a peaceful and beautiful place to reconnect with nature and recharge. We stayed at one of the small cabins on top of the hill and the view is just gorgeous. There are 2 sets of shower rooms and toilet rooms (water closet) on site that are well kept and clean. On a clear night, the sky is just breathtaking and you can see the Milky Way with naked eyes. Jinny also makes delicious jams that you can buy. Will definitely come back again.
The entire site is located on one long private road that is connected to the main road. The owner's house is the check-in. There are several cottages and there is also the possibility to camp with your tent. Each cottage is very simple, but still tasteful. If you bring enough of your own light, you can also light it up very cozy in the evening. Lovely beds, and curtains for the windows. The windows with mosquito nets can be closed from the outside. Our cottage had a place to make a campfire and a grill for a BBQ possibility. Beautiful surroundings for the sunset and also stargazingThere are two toilets and two showers. Both very nice, good water pressure. The water comes from the mountain and is delicious to drink. There are animals and many fruit trees. A recommendation is to join the animals, vegetables or fruit in the morning. Wonderful experience.
AUTHENTIC VERMONT Experience!!!!I was riding my motorcycle on a long distance trip along BDR and I camped every night. This is so far the BEST experience and LOWEST price. This campground and FARM gave me primitive camping while having access to clean bathrooms and power to charge my phone and battery. The ambiance is unique and welcoming. If you want to get away from the city life and feel relax in the nature, this is the one to stay.
Very quiet, clean space ! Amazingly well made toilets, super clean.Do try out the farm made jams and scones which the owner makes, they are super delicious.
This is what our ideal idea of glamping is! The cabin is simple but very comfortable, the matrasses are good and it is spatious the private fire pit and table are very nice. We enjoyed all the little path and to wander on the farm but the best is of course Jinnie, our great conversations, and her delicious cookies!
