Gamler's Boat Yard Campgrounds Introduce

For Pennsylvania residents looking to escape to the tranquil banks of the Susquehanna River, Gamler's Boat Yard Campgrounds offers a unique destination that blends the charm of a small-town community with the rugged beauty of York County's river hills. Located in the quiet hamlet of Airville, this campground is a favorite among local boating enthusiasts and families who appreciate a social, tight-knit atmosphere. Often described by regulars as a "little piece of heaven," the property provides a sense of nostalgia where neighbors know each other by name and the pace of life slows down to match the steady flow of the nearby river.

As a seasonal and transient destination, Gamler's is particularly well-suited for those who enjoy water-based recreation. The property serves dual roles as both a boat yard and a campground, making it a logistical hub for fishermen and pleasure boaters alike. From the perspective of a local camper, the environment is lively and family-oriented. While the layout is known for being cozy and high-density—reminiscent of the historic riverfront communities found throughout the region—the tradeoff is a vibrant social scene and immediate access to one of the most scenic stretches of the Lower Susquehanna Riverlands. Whether you are coming for a weekend of fishing or a summer of riverside relaxation, the park offers an authentic Pennsylvania camping experience.

Location and accessibility are primary factors for travelers visiting from nearby hubs like York, Lancaster, or Harrisburg. The campground is situated at 211 Indian Steps Rd, Airville, PA 17302, USA. Reaching the site involves a scenic drive through the rolling agricultural lands of southern York County. For those coming from Airville via Route 74, the route takes you onto Route 425 North for approximately four miles, followed by a turn onto the hard-top Indian Steps Road. The drive is straightforward for most vehicles, and the campground is clearly located on the left side of the road as you descend toward the river.

Accessibility within the park is maintained to ensure convenience for all guests. The property features a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, which is essential given the hilly nature of the river hills region. On-site parking is available for both primary vehicles and camping rigs. Its proximity to local landmarks like the historic Indian Steps Museum—just a mile down the road—makes it a perfect base for exploring the rich Native American history and unique architecture of the Susquehanna Valley. The campground is also within an hour’s drive of Harrisburg and Lancaster, making it a feasible weekend retreat for residents of the state capital and Pennsylvania Dutch country.

I didn't get to stay here because they were booked a year out. However, they are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and gave some helpful advice. 😃
