What is worth choosing the Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA Holiday for is its unrivaled reputation for quality and its strategic location. Seasoned campers often cite the staff’s attention to detail—from the way the stone fire pits are constructed to the helpfulness of the team in navigating around local GPS "traps" like low covered bridges—as a major reason for their return. It is particularly worth choosing if you are traveling with children; the sheer variety of entertainment on-site means there is "never a dull moment," even if you decide not to leave the grounds for the day. The "pirate ship" playground and the various life-size games are standout hits with younger visitors.
Furthermore, the campground is a top choice for history buffs who want a more immersive experience than a standard hotel can provide. The wooded setting allows you to feel more connected to the terrain where history was made, while the nightly historic films and living history encampments often held on weekends bring the past to life right at your campsite. The ability to take a guided bus tour directly from the KOA office simplifies the logistics of visiting the battlefield, allowing you to focus on the significance of the sites rather than traffic and parking. For pet owners, the "A+" rating often given to the dog park and the pet-friendly attitude of the staff ensure that the entire family can enjoy the trip together.
Ultimately, this KOA Holiday offers a polished and professional camping experience that highlights the best of Pennsylvania hospitality. The combination of clean facilities, well-shaded sites, and an endless list of amenities creates a "magical" atmosphere that charms even the most seasoned campers. Whether you are visiting to reflect on the events of Pickett’s Charge or simply to roast marshmallows under the stars with your family, this facility provides the comfort, convenience, and charm necessary for a truly memorable Gettysburg adventure.

One of my favorite KOAs! The atmosphere was lovely—woodsy and hilly. There were tons of family activities during our stay, like a food truck, live music, and scavenger hunt. Plus, there’s a nice pool, mini golf, and more. The drive to the battlefield and downtown Gettysburg is short. I would highly recommend staying here if you’re visiting the area.
We’ve stayed at over 30 KOAs this year and Gettysburg KOA ranks in our top 2. Wonderful charming, local fun. We loved the staff and how they put so much thought into the campsite. The fire pits of stone, the fun mini golf, the pirate ship playground and the private sites were our family with two kids fav! We had lots of laugh from the start with their voicemail and found this an A+ KOA. Great job team!
As with most KOAs, the sites were a bit close to each other but we had room to park our 35' fifth wheel and our truck on the site. Didn't really have a fire ring like most sites and the picnic table needed replacing. Bathrooms were excellent and while we used the one attached to the office/store, we did notice that they had other bathroom buildings in the campground. Lots of cabins here. Only about 10 minutes west of Gettysburg, so a great location! Very friendly people!
Stayed here for 4 nights. We stayed in a cabin with our dog. Cabin was clean. The cabin has a heater, AC unit, mini fridge, and a TV. Location is 15 minutes from Gettysburg and only 30 minutes from Maryland. Super accommodating. Bathrooms were kept clean. Excellent KOA.
My boyfriend and I camped here as our last trip before the fall semester started. It was a great location for our trip! They showed us to our camp site, helped us back in our pop-up, and were helpful the entire weekend. Being only 15 minutes from town was a plus. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a nice, small place to stay.
