Gettysburg Battlefield RV Resort & Campground Pennsylvania Introduce

For those looking to combine a deep dive into American history with the comforts of modern outdoor hospitality, Gettysburg Battlefield RV Resort & Campground Pennsylvania is a standout destination. Situated on the southern edge of the most famous battlefield in Civil War history, this resort offers more than just a place to park an RV; it provides an immersive experience. Residents and visitors in the Pennsylvania region often choose this location for its unique ability to serve as a peaceful retreat that is simultaneously a gateway to the historic town of Gettysburg and the surrounding countryside. The resort operates as a membership-based community under the Travel Resorts of America network, fostering a "neighbors become family" atmosphere that keeps travelers returning year after year.

The resort is meticulously maintained and thoughtfully laid out, catering to both history buffs and families looking for a high-end recreational experience. Its proximity to the National Military Park allows guests to walk through history by day and return to a well-equipped base camp by evening. Beyond the history, the resort is known for its cleanliness and its wide array of on-site activities that prevent the experience from feeling overly commercialized. From the rustic charm of the lodge to the bustling activity around the general store, the resort captures the essence of Pennsylvania hospitality in one of the state's most storied locations.

Gettysburg Battlefield RV Resort is located at 1960 Emmitsburg Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325, USA. For local users, its position is incredibly convenient, sitting just a short drive from the center of downtown Gettysburg. It is easily accessible via US-15, making it a straightforward trip for those coming from Harrisburg, York, or even over the border from Maryland. The entrance is well-marked, though first-time visitors should be aware that security is a priority at this location; the entrance is monitored to ensure the safety and privacy of resort members and guests.

Accessibility is a core focus of the facility. The resort features wheelchair-accessible entrances, restrooms, and parking lots, ensuring that all guests can enjoy the common areas and office facilities. Within the grounds, the site numbers are clearly marked, and the roads are designed to accommodate large rigs. However, because the resort is nestled in the natural terrain of the Pennsylvania hills, visitors are advised to bring leveling blocks, as some sites may be uneven due to the natural slope of the land. This minor adjustment is a small trade-off for staying on the very grounds where historic events once unfolded.

Gettysburg Battlefield RV Resort is worth choosing because it offers a "best of both worlds" scenario: the solemnity of a world-class historical site and the vibrant energy of a family vacation hub. For families with pets, the dog park alone makes this resort a top-tier choice in Pennsylvania; it is frequently cited as one of the largest and most well-maintained pet areas in any RV park on the East Coast. The sheer variety of activities—from fishing and swimming to arcade gaming and basketball—ensures that children are entertained, allowing parents to relax or focus on the educational aspects of the Gettysburg area.

Boy oh boy was this place special! My husband has always wanted to visit Gettysburg as his bucket list, and what better way to visit then to stay right where they fought. Our site was easily accessible, site numbers clear. Definitely make sure you have leveling blocks etc all sites are extremely uneven. Our site also shared a power box which I had never seen before but had 0 issues. The entire resort is extremely clean and very very nicely laid out. Huge office with almost everything you can need while camping. Everything from condiments to fire wood (no outside fire wood is allowed you will be fined if found to bring your own wood) I did see LOTS of people bring thier own wood so not sure if tgey just pay the fine or what? 🤷‍♀️They have a gorgeous catch and release fishing 🎣 pond. (They do have snapping turtles 🐢 fyi 😁) We tried no luck unfortunately. They have an arcade for kids plus an enormous play ground with a basketball court and lots more for the kids!We have 2 french bulldogs so dog parks are big for us, and let me tell you ....this is the largest nicest dog park I have ever seen in an RV Park. They offer a cozy seating area with fresh water for your furry friends. ( They do fine 50 dollars if you do not pick up after your pets 💩. However it was disappointing to see so much 💩 left inside the dog park)They have a big pool, but was out of service due to winter month. They do offer Amazon delivery to the office. I order A LOT and had 0 issues with any of my deliveries. Thank you amazing front staff ladies you guys are the best!!Only word of caution ⚠️ be very clear and careful when ordering doordash. They guard the entrance like it's fort Knox. It's extremely over the top in my opinion. I had MULTIPLE orders sent away because miss thing at the gate doesn't approve or like why they are there. They even sent my 600 dollar grocery order away......I was beyond livid. This is the sole reason I gave 4 stars and not 5. You guys have to remember not everyone has a car or golf cart to leave and get food and or necessities, the least you can do is not cause stress and confusion when people have hot food waiting to ne eaten. And when you pay to get your food fast then have it sent away only to come back after you call out the gate keeper....who's now covering my expedite delivery I never received? They have a very clean and large laundry room. But beware they only take card no coins. And the change machine is always broke incase you need dryer sheets, so make sure you have laundry soap etc.Overall had an amazing time! Great staff amazing place!9 out of 10

We joined Gettysburg Battlefield Resort a few years ago, and it has been one of the best investments we’ve ever made. The membership has already paid for itself many times over. Between the free stays, discounted camping at partner resorts, and all the included amenities, we’ve easily saved several thousand dollars every year on family vacations. The resort itself is beautiful — peaceful, clean, and full of friendly people who quickly start to feel like family. The staff goes above and beyond to make every visit special, and the activities keep everyone entertained without feeling crowded or commercialized. What we really love is that our membership gives us access to other resorts in the Travel Resorts of America network. We’ve camped up and down the East Coast for a fraction of what we used to pay. It’s made traveling more affordable, spontaneous, and fun.If you love camping and want to travel more without breaking the bank, becoming a member here is a no-brainer. We couldn’t be happier with Gettysburg Battlefield Resort and the savings it’s brought our family!

We absolutely love Gettysburg Battlefield Resort! From the moment we checked in, the staff made us feel like family. The campground is beautifully maintained, with spacious RV sites, clean restrooms, and plenty of room for the kids to play. The lake is peaceful for fishing and paddle boating, and the pool is the perfect way to cool off after exploring the battlefield just a few miles away. You can really tell this is a members-only resort — it feels private, quiet, and safe. We enjoyed joining in on the weekend activities and meeting other members who have been coming here for years. The location couldn’t be better — you’re close enough to all the history and attractions of downtown Gettysburg, but far enough away to enjoy a quiet campfire under the stars. We can’t wait to come back! If you’re looking for a clean, family-friendly resort with an unbeatable location and staff who genuinely care, Gettysburg Battlefield Resort is the place to be.

The location and access to the National Military Park are excellent. However, the customer service left much to be desired (with the possible exception of Carolyn). This resort operates more like a timeshare community, and most guests appear to be long-term residents rather than short-term visitors.Unfortunately, my family and I experienced rude behavior from staff on multiple occasions for no clear reason, and I personally witnessed them being disrespectful to another short-term (“transient”) camper as well. It was evident that their focus and attention were primarily directed toward long-term residents. The property does offer a variety of activities, particularly for children and residents. However, one example highlights the lack of consideration for short-term guests: on Saturday, October 11, a trick-or-treat event was held in the middle of the afternoon, during which the campground essentially “shut down” for two hours — with little to no prior notice provided.Overall, the location is very convenient, and it’s a suitable place for a quick overnight stay near Gettysburg. However, if you’re seeking a welcoming, visitor-friendly campground or a more relaxed environment, you may want to look elsewhere. The property was extremely crowded and enforces an extensive list of rules that feels more like an HOA than a campground.

We’ve stayed at a lot of campgrounds, but Gettysburg Battlefield Resort truly stands out. The property is beautiful and so peaceful — lots of shade, a nice lake for fishing, and plenty of space between sites. The facilities are spotless, and you can tell the staff takes real pride in keeping everything in top shape. What we loved most was the sense of community. Everyone we met was friendly and welcoming, from the office team to the other members. We joined in on a weekend cookout and ended up making friends we still keep in touch with!Being only a few minutes from the battlefield and downtown Gettysburg was the icing on the cake. We spent our mornings exploring history and our evenings relaxing by the fire. It’s the perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and charm. We’re proud to be members and plan to make this a regular stop every season!
