For Pennsylvania residents seeking a grounded and authentic outdoor experience near one of the nation's most historic landmarks, Marsh Creek of Gettysburg Campground offers a unique blend of simplicity and convenience. Located just south of the historic downtown area, this campground serves as a practical basecamp for locals who want to explore the hallowed grounds of the Gettysburg National Military Park while maintaining a close connection to nature. Unlike the more commercialized "resort-style" parks in the region, this location caters to those who appreciate a more open, rustic environment. It is a place where the landscape speaks for itself, providing a wide-open field setting that allows for expansive views of the Pennsylvania sky and the gentle rustle of the nearby creek.

The campground is specifically designed for those who value a "back-to-basics" approach to their weekend getaways. For many locals in the Adams County area and beyond, the appeal of Marsh Creek of Gettysburg lies in its unpretentious atmosphere. It provides a sprawling green space that allows for a sense of freedom often missing from tightly packed urban campgrounds. Whether you are arriving with a large RV or a simple pop-up tent, the property offers a relaxed pace that mirrors the quiet, rural charm of the surrounding countryside. It is a destination where the focus remains on the campfire, the company of fellow travelers, and the rich history that permeates every mile of the Gettysburg region.

Location and accessibility are two of the primary reasons Pennsylvania campers choose this site. Situated at 2904 Emmitsburg Road, the campground is positioned directly on a main artery that leads straight into the heart of Gettysburg. This makes it incredibly easy to navigate for those towing large trailers or driving substantial motorhomes. Local users will find the entrance accessible and the on-site parking generous. For those who want to spend their days touring the battlefields, museums, and local shops, the short drive means more time exploring and less time in transit. Despite its proximity to the road for easy travel, the campground maintains a peaceful perimeter, especially along the banks of Marsh Creek, where the water provides a natural barrier and a calming soundtrack to the camping experience.

The services offered at Marsh Creek of Gettysburg Campground are tailored to provide the essentials for a comfortable stay while maintaining a primitive aesthetic. Very primitive field sites with electric and water hookups. The dump station is kind of iffy make sure u bring cloves to throw away as well as a dirty bag as well as water to rinse dump lines. The bath house doubles as a sana since the water heater is in the same room as toilet and shower. Great campground for a couple to escape to, but may wanna stay up the road if u have kids.

Not really a campground. Just a big open field. No tables or fire pits. Just a couple of pedestal charcoal cooker things. It's cheap though but I don't think it was worth it.

Best price in the area by far! It's pretty quiet especially so close to the road. Tent sites on the right, rv to the left with a large field in the middle, great for Frisbee or playing catch. Fishing/ kayak in a small channel. Tent sites have a small metal grill, ground is grass, was flat and soft. Tons of fireflies (lightening bugs) in june/july, lots of beetles, minimal other insects including mosquitoes which I attract from everywhere. There is a bath house, with shower and sinks, it was clean.

As other reviewers have stated, this is an unconventional campground. Most of the trailers/RVs seem to be permanent residents. The bath house (a very small building about midway down the motor vehicle side) was locked, with an unfriendly handwritten note on the door. There's an illegible sign at the entrance; I could almost make out a phone number.Over the course of several days, I called; no one picked up. Arriving on site, I tried again. No one called me back.It was a very quiet night, with zero mosquitos.

Having camped frequently and have traveled all over the United States, this campground, although small, is so pretty and has a beautiful large yard to have fun with volleyball, badmitten, softball, or whatever and a large pavilion to hold large group picnics. However, there seems to be a problem with the septic system. There was a strong stench which permeated all around our site...making cooking and eating unpleasant! The facilities were lacking much...with only a small building with 2 separate rooms, each room was equipped with one shower, comode, and sink. And one shower room was locked for the entirety of our 5 night stay. A beautiful, small and quiet park, needing some serious septic work and updating the facilities. Would love to come back...but not until corrections are made.
