Holiday Acres Camp Grounds Introduce

For over half a century, Holiday Acres Camp Grounds has served as a cornerstone of the outdoor community in North Scituate, Rhode Island. Established in 1945, this family-owned destination has invited generations of Rhode Islanders and travelers to swap the fast-paced digital world for the rustle of oak trees and the quiet lapping of water on Coomer Lake. Spanning acres of picturesque New England landscape, the campground is designed to foster a sense of belonging and community, making it a popular choice for seasonal residents and weekend visitors alike.

Holiday Acres is particularly known for its vibrant, social atmosphere. Unlike more secluded wilderness sites, this campground thrives on interaction and organized fun. From themed Halloween weekends in September to live music performances during the height of summer, there is a pulse to the park that appeals to those who enjoy meeting their neighbors. It offers a structured environment where children can roam safely to the playground and adults can find relaxation at the historic "A-Frame" recreation hall. Whether you are arriving with a high-end motorhome or looking for the rustic simplicity of a rental cabin, the park provides a welcoming home base for your Rhode Island adventures.

Location and accessibility are major highlights for this North Scituate gem. Situated at 593 Snake Hill Rd, North Scituate, RI 02857, the campground is nestled in the scenic Blackstone Valley region of northern Rhode Island. Despite its peaceful, wooded setting, it is remarkably accessible for local residents. It is located just a short drive from the village of Greenville and is within easy reach of major state routes, making it a convenient getaway for those living in Providence or the surrounding suburbs. For those traveling with large RVs, the park offers a gated entrance and on-site parking designed to accommodate significant lengths and slide-outs.

The facility has made concerted efforts to ensure the grounds are inclusive and accessible to all visitors. This includes a wheelchair-accessible entrance and parking lot, as well as accessible restroom facilities. Navigating the park is straightforward, though visitors should note that there are two separate entrances; the main office entrance is the required stop for check-in to ensure a smooth start to your stay. While the campground provides a secluded feel, essential services like gas stations and local shops are only a couple of miles away, providing the perfect balance between rural charm and modern convenience.

Holiday Acres Camp Grounds provides a robust suite of services and site options to ensure a comfortable stay for every type of camper. The facility specializes in RV camping but also offers unique rental accommodations for those who prefer not to tow their own equipment. The following services are available on-site:

  • Full RV hookups including electric (30 and 50 amp service), water, and sewer connections.
  • Rustic cabin rentals, such as the "Doll House" and "Loft," which offer a cozy alternative to tent or trailer camping.
  • Comprehensive sanitation services, including clean bath houses and showers with private dressing areas.
  • On-site laundry facilities, allowing for longer stays without the need to leave the park for basic chores.
  • Convenient payment options, accepting credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments for camping fees and store purchases.
  • A well-stocked camp store providing essentials like firewood, ice, and propane.
  • Seasonal and winter site programs for those looking to make Holiday Acres their semi-permanent "home away from home."

The features and highlights of Holiday Acres are what truly set it apart from other local sites. The campground is packed with amenities designed to keep both kids and adults entertained throughout their stay. The presence of Coomer Lake provides a beautiful backdrop for water-based recreation, while the land-based facilities ensure there is never a dull moment. Key highlights include:

  • Access to Coomer Lake for boating, fishing (known for bass and catfish), and swimming at the designated beach area.
  • A comprehensive playground and a dedicated "Kids Rec Hall" where scheduled crafts and activities take place.
  • The "A-Frame" Recreation Hall, featuring a game room with pool tables, darts, a jukebox, and a big-screen TV for social gatherings.
  • A variety of sports and outdoor games, including horseshoe pits, volleyball, and a large open field for free play.
  • A packed calendar of community events, such as bingo nights, hayrides, meat raffles, and live band performances.
  • Canoe and kayak rentals, making it easy for guests to explore the water without bringing their own vessels.
  • Walking and biking paths that wind through the woods and open meadows, perfect for nature walks and pet exercise.

If you are planning a trip or considering a seasonal site, the management is available to help with reservations and answer specific questions about site availability. Because the park fills up quickly during the peak summer months and holiday weekends, advance booking is highly recommended.

My husband and I were looking for a campground in Rhode Island that had cabins. We just didn’t feel like dragging our pop-up and doing all the setting up for this trip. The cabins, I believe, are all rustic which was fine. We stayed in the Doll House. It was very clean! As were the bathrooms right across the street! They look like they may have been recently painted. We did have to drive every morning down to the shower as it would be quite a long walk with all your stuff. They were also very clean! And so were the bathrooms down there! The few employees that were interacted with were all very friendly. The campground itself was clean. No broken down/abandoned campers. The sites are VERY close to each other!!!! So if you’re looking for privacy, you probably won’t get it. He happened to be there towards the end of September, it was Halloween weekend. So the only time there was a lot of people there was Saturday and Saturday night. The rest of the weekend was pretty quiet. I’m sure it gets very busy and crowded in the summertime. You do have to drive to get anywhere, but I mean that’s to be expected. We want to go back with our whole family and each of us will just rent different cabins. There are two separate entrances so be sure when you’re checking in you use the entrance where the office is not the one further down the street. The only reason I gave it four stars is because of the closeness of each of the campsites, and I wish they would put a Another bath house up at the top of the hill. Other than that, my husband and I totally enjoyed our stay and we will be going back!!

Not a bad campground. Was there seasonal. The place is kept in good condition for the most part. The problem is the manager. If he doesn't like you out you go. I call him a part time manager who spends about 3-4 hours a day in the office. If you have a problem after hours good luck getting help. No after hours contact. If you don't see it his way it's no way. Unfortunately I enjoyed my time there but manager showed me the door.

My family and I have been seasonal campers at Holiday Acres for seven years and love it here! The beach on the lake, fishing, relaxing, and the friends we’ve made over the years are all reasons why we love it here. The prices are reasonable and the sites are sizable compared to other locations with seasonal camping. There are bands and food trucks scheduled on weekends throughout the summer in addition to various activities for kids and adults. The kid’s rec hall is frequented by our son with games and tables to play cards and other games. Guests are allowed to visit and/or stay overnight for a fee. It’s a great place where a family can enjoy time together.
