Honey Bear Campground Introduce
Honey Bear Campground, formerly known as Lake Raystown Family Camping, stands as a premier outdoor destination for those looking to explore the rugged beauty of Central Pennsylvania. Spanning over 100 acres of natural landscape, the resort offers a diverse range of camping options that cater to everyone from solo backpackers to large family reunions. The atmosphere is one of peaceful immersion, where the sounds of the forest take center stage, yet modern amenities ensure that guests remain comfortable throughout their stay. Whether you are arriving with a large motorhome or looking for a secluded spot to pitch a tent under the stars, this campground provides a welcoming environment for all.
The facility is notably inclusive, maintaining a reputation as an LGBTQ+ friendly and transgender safe space. This commitment to a welcoming culture, combined with a focus on family-oriented recreation, makes it a standout choice for the local community and visitors alike. With a variety of landscapes ranging from open grassy fields to dense, shaded woodlands, the property allows campers to choose the level of privacy and sun exposure they prefer. The staff is frequently praised for their helpful and friendly service, ensuring that even first-time visitors feel right at home in the Huntingdon mountains.
Location and accessibility are key highlights for Honey Bear Campground. Situated at 11601 Piney Ridge Road in Huntingdon, PA, the resort is strategically positioned just minutes away from the vast recreation opportunities of Raystown Lake. The lake itself is the largest entirely within the state of Pennsylvania, offering 118 miles of shoreline and 8,300 acres of water for boating, fishing, and swimming. For those traveling by road, the campground is easily reached from Route 22—simply turn at the Burger King onto Crooked Creek Road and follow Piney Ridge Road up the ridge. The entrance and parking facilities are designed with accessibility in mind, featuring wheelchair-accessible entrances, parking lots, and restrooms to accommodate all guests.
The services offered at the campground are comprehensive, catering to the technical needs of RV travelers and the comfort of cabin renters. The owners have been consistently updating the facilities, including the addition of a lovely new swimming pool and improved site leveling to enhance the guest experience. For those who do not own a camper, the resort offers several fully furnished cabins that can accommodate groups of two to seven people, as well as a massive bunkhouse capable of sleeping up to 30 people, making it an ideal spot for church groups, scouts, or corporate retreats.

What is worth choosing at Honey Bear Campground is the unique combination of space and proximity. Unlike many modern RV parks that pack sites tightly together, Honey Bear is known for offering some of the largest campsites in the Raystown Lake region. The extra space provides a genuine sense of being "out in the woods" while still having the convenience of a sewer hookup and a clean shower just a short walk away. For mountain bikers, choosing this location is a no-brainer, as it puts you within striking distance of the Allegrippis Trails without the crowds of the state-run campgrounds.
Furthermore, the variety of lodging makes it worth choosing for mixed groups. If half of your party wants the ruggedness of a tent and the other half prefers the luxury of a furnished cabin with a kitchen, Honey Bear can accommodate both within the same property. The constant updates being made by the owners—such as the new pool and improved electrical pedestals—show a commitment to quality that ensures your vacation will be smooth and enjoyable. Whether you are here for the world-class fishing, the challenging bike trails, or simply a quiet weekend by the fire, this campground offers the authentic Pennsylvania outdoor experience you are looking for.

Customer Reviews
Campground employees were friendly and helpful. Site was a little difficult-way out of level and electricity hookup out of reach. Lovely new pool. Looks like owners are adding and updating. Thumbs up for that.
We were there for a cornhole tournament so did not see much of the campground. The pavilion was very large and bathrooms were clean, but no mirror. There is also a nice size pool and playground.
A great family friendly snd pet friendly campground with a great owner that is friendly and very helpful. Terry and his wife are wonderful people. Many new upgrades with more planned. We look forward to camping there.
My family of 50+ relatives & I are all from Ohio. It’s been difficult to find places for all of us to vacation together & we are all enjoying our stay at the cabins/campsites here. Definitely recommend!
It's a good place if you want a secure environment. On site shower and toilets. Rustic camping but also has places for RV.
