Urban Saddle Ranch Introduce
For residents of Pennsylvania seeking a genuine escape from the fast-paced nature of modern life, Urban Saddle Ranch offers an experience that is both grounding and revitalizing. Situated in the picturesque mountainside of Huntingdon, this 50-acre ranch serves as more than just a place to rest your head; it is a gateway to the rugged beauty of Central Pennsylvania. Known for its unique blend of traditional camping vibes and comfortable cabin living, the ranch has carved out a reputation as a must-visit destination for those who want to be close to Raystown Lake while enjoying a private, farm-like atmosphere. Whether you are a local looking for a weekend change of scenery or an outdoor enthusiast planning an extended stay, this campground provides the perfect backdrop for making memories.
The spirit of Urban Saddle Ranch is defined by its commitment to a rustic, "unplugged" lifestyle. In a world where digital connectivity often encroaches on leisure time, the ranch encourages guests to trade screen time for campfire stories. The property is famously home to a variety of friendly animals—including horses, miniature ponies, chickens, peacocks, and even wandering kittens—which adds a layer of charm and education for families with children. This is not a high-end corporate resort; rather, it is a personable, owner-operated sanctuary where the hosts go out of their way to ensure every visitor feels like part of the family. The presence of free-roaming livestock and the peaceful mountain air create a "home away from home" feeling that many Pennsylvania travelers find themselves returning to year after year.
Location and accessibility are key components of the Urban Saddle Ranch experience. Located at 7745 Cottage Cir, Huntingdon, PA 16652, the ranch is strategically positioned just about a mile from the shores of the massive 8,000-acre Raystown Lake. This proximity makes it an ideal home base for boaters, anglers, and swimmers who want to spend their days on the water and their nights in a quiet, wooded setting. Accessing the property involves navigating scenic rural roads that set the stage for your retreat. It is important to note that the final stretch to the ranch involves dirt roads which, while adding to the secluded feel, can be muddy during wet weather; as such, four-wheel drive is highly recommended during the winter months or after heavy rain.
While the ranch feels worlds away from urban centers, it is remarkably accessible from several major Pennsylvania landmarks. It is roughly 45 miles from State College and Penn State University, making it a unique alternative for families visiting during football weekends or graduation. Nearby attractions like the Lincoln Caverns and the "Thousand Steps" of Standing Stone Trail are within easy driving distance, providing endless opportunities for exploration. The on-site parking lot is conveniently located, though guests staying in the upper cabin apartments should expect a short, two-minute walk from their vehicle to their front door, ensuring the cabin areas remain quiet and free of heavy traffic.
Urban Saddle Ranch provides a range of essential services and amenities designed to support a comfortable outdoor stay. The focus here is on providing the "basics" with high quality, allowing the natural surroundings to provide the entertainment. Each accommodation is uniquely named after iconic Western figures—such as the Lone Ranger, Wyatt Earp, and Matt Dillon—adding a touch of thematic fun to your booking. Because the ranch emphasizes a connection with nature, it operates without public WiFi, allowing guests to truly disconnect.

The features and highlights of Urban Saddle Ranch are what truly set it apart from standard campgrounds. Guests are often invited to interact with the animals, and seeing the horses graze just outside your cabin window is a regular highlight. The 50-acre property also features a tranquil on-site pond with a dock, perfect for quiet reflection or a bit of light fishing. The shared outdoor spaces are designed to foster a sense of community among travelers while still providing enough private nooks for those seeking solitude.

When deciding on your next Pennsylvania getaway, Urban Saddle Ranch is worth choosing because it offers an authentic, un-sanitized version of the Great Outdoors. Unlike larger, commercialized RV parks where you might be packed in with hundreds of other travelers, this ranch maintains a sense of intimacy and peace. It is worth choosing for the animals alone, which provide a level of entertainment and companionship that you won't find at a standard hotel. For those who love the idea of camping but prefer the comfort of a solid roof and a warm bed, the cabins provide the perfect "glamping" middle ground.
Furthermore, the value of the experience lies in the personal touch. The owners, Monique and Bob, are frequently mentioned by visitors for their hospitality and willingness to share their knowledge of the Huntingdon area. Whether they are providing fresh eggs in the morning or giving you the best tips for local hiking, their involvement makes your stay feel personal rather than transactional. Choosing Urban Saddle Ranch means choosing a stay that prioritizes nature, animals, and human connection over high-speed internet and luxury lobbies. It is an investment in a quiet weekend that will leave you feeling more refreshed than any city-based vacation ever could. If you want to experience the true heart of the Huntingdon mountainside, there is no better place to unsaddle and stay a while.

What an amazing place to stay! The owners are both charming, personable, and helpful. The animals were entertaining. The cabins were clean, and comfortable. We had an absolutely amazing weekend. From the animals, to the camp fires, to the beach, dam, hikes, and overlooks, this was the best place to be.
We stayed Aug 4-8 2025. We were looking for a cabin in the woods and we got exactly that! We will definitely be booking next year. The owners were the kindest people ever! So relaxing and they made it home away from home. All the animals were so friendly and made it even more welcoming. Definitely not a disappointment what so ever. We always had something to do and each day brought a new adventure. Really think this will be a yearly trip for sure! See you next year!
Amazing, clean, relaxing, property. It was perfect for our girls weekend. All the cats, horses, pigs, and chickens…the owners were kind and welcoming. We will be back. Thank you! Jennifer, Hilary, and Shelbi and our two new friends, Milo & Goose.
Very nice place, gotta remember it's a cabin so it's not your Hilton hotel. The barn animals on the ranch were very cool to see, Monique was great and very accommodating. Would recommend for people with a family.
Had a wonderful and relaxing weekend. Spent some time on the boat and evening around the campfire
