Lakewood Park Campground Introduce

Lakewood Park Campground is a beautifully restored 54-acre retreat located in the scenic rolling hills of Barnesville, Pennsylvania. Once the site of a historic amusement park and theater that served thousands in the mid-20th century, the land has been thoughtfully transformed into a modern, high-end destination for outdoor enthusiasts. This family-owned and operated campground prides itself on offering a "back-to-nature" experience supplemented by top-tier amenities. Whether you are seeking a quiet weekend in a tent, a seasonal spot for your RV, or a luxury cabin stay, Lakewood Park provides a serene environment where the legacy of Pennsylvania’s outdoor heritage meets contemporary comfort.

The campground is centered around a stunning 10-acre spring-fed lake, which serves as the heart of the property’s recreational activity. Since its opening in 2018, the facility has quickly become a "hidden gem" in Schuylkill County, known for its meticulously maintained grounds and incredibly friendly staff who treat guests like family. Beyond its identity as a campground, the property is a multi-faceted destination, housing a sophisticated conference center and the Catalpa Grove wedding venue. This unique blend of rustic charm and elegant event spaces makes it a versatile choice for everything from a simple family picnic to a formal black-tie wedding overlooking the water.

Located at 26 Park Avenue in Barnesville, PA, Lakewood Park Campground is exceptionally easy to reach for travelers coming from all directions. It is situated just three miles from Interstate 81, providing a convenient stop for those exploring the Northeast or looking for a quick getaway from nearby cities like Allentown, Reading, or Scranton. Despite its proximity to major highways, the park feels worlds away, tucked into a quiet neighborhood surrounded by dense Pennsylvania woodlands. The entrance is designed to be welcoming and accessible, featuring a drive-under portico and wide, paved roads that make navigating large RVs or trailers a stress-free experience.

Accessibility is a priority at Lakewood Park, with the management ensuring that the facility is inclusive for all guests. The campground features wheelchair-accessible entrances, a spacious and accessible parking lot, and modern restroom facilities designed with accessibility in mind. For those looking to explore the local area, the park is less than 15 minutes away from both Tuscarora State Park and Locust Lake State Park, offering even more opportunities for hiking, swimming, and lakeside relaxation. This central location within the "Coal Region" of Pennsylvania makes it an ideal basecamp for regional sightseeing, including trips to the historic town of Jim Thorpe or the Lehigh Valley Zoo.

Choosing Lakewood Park Campground is worth it for anyone who values quality, cleanliness, and a welcoming community. One of the primary reasons to stay here is the sheer size and privacy of the campsites; many visitors remark that the RV sites are significantly larger than those found at traditional parks, allowing plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the forest. The attention to detail is evident in every corner of the property, from the spotless bathhouses to the beautifully designed luxury cabins that offer a "glamping" experience for those who want to enjoy the outdoors without sacrificing comfort.

Furthermore, it is worth choosing for its unique dual identity. It is one of the few places in Pennsylvania where you can enjoy a rugged morning hike and then walk to a beautiful on-site bar for an espresso or a local craft beer. The staff’s "family-oriented" approach creates a safe, warm environment where kids can be kids and adults can truly relax. Whether you are planning a romantic getaway in a cabin with a lake view or a large-scale wedding in a gorgeous timber-frame hall, Lakewood Park Campground offers a level of professional service and natural beauty that is rarely found in a single location. It truly is a hidden gem that respects its historic roots while looking forward to a bright future in Pennsylvania tourism.

What a great weekend get away! This place is great and the staff is amazing! We stayed at a tent site T-4 and had plenty of room. The new restaurant and bar are a great touch! Very close to both Tuscarora and Locust lake easy to find activities. They even having kayaking and paddle boats! The bath houses were clean and in very good condition. The event center on site is also gorgeous and perfect for weddings! Nothing bad could be said about our weekend and we loved it. We will definitely be back and telling all of our friends!

This is probably the nicest campground we’ve ever been to. You can see the pride and care given by the owners all around. It was very clean everywhere. We stopped just for a night, not too far from major interstate. Friendly front desk staff, restaurant/bar upstairs with a varied menu. Only complaint which has nothing to do with the campground, is the proximity to train tracks and the roar of the train passing through. It wasn’t enough to deter us from wanting to come again!Bathrooms were immaculately clean!

Took my son up here for a weekend boys trip. On arrival staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in one of the cabins. It was clean and well kept. The lake was a lot of fun with both fish to be caught and complimentary kayak and paddle boat use. The grill and fire pit at the cabins were nice additions. The only negative(which isn’t the campgrounds fault), was a drunk and obnoxious resident staying across the way. Had to turn on some music to drown out the F-Bombs while my son and I had s’mores.I would definitely recommend and am planning on bringing back the rest of the family at some point
