Lauder Family Campground Introduce

Lauder Family Campground is a heartwarming, family-owned destination located in the picturesque landscapes of Frenchville, Pennsylvania. Nestled within the "PA Wilds" region, this campground offers a authentic outdoor experience that combines the rugged beauty of Clearfield County with the personal touch of a host who treats every visitor like a member of the family. Spanning over 150 acres of rolling farm views and lush wooded areas, the property has been in the Lauder family for generations, and that sense of heritage is palpable from the moment you drive down the lane. It is a place designed for those who want to unplug, reconnect with their loved ones, and immerse themselves in the quiet rhythms of nature.

For Pennsylvania residents, Lauder Family Campground serves as a gateway to some of the state's most magnificent wildlife and natural landmarks. The atmosphere is peaceful and unpretentious, catering to families who appreciate seeing farm animals, such as peacocks, turkeys, and goats, just as much as they enjoy the thrill of spotting a wild elk in the nearby fields. Whether you are a seasoned RVer or a first-time tent camper, the campground provides a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment where the owners are known to go above and beyond—even providing forgotten essentials like pillows or coats—to ensure your stay is comfortable and memorable.

Location and accessibility are among the top reasons travelers choose Lauder Family Campground. Situated at 41 Lauders Lane in Frenchville, PA, the campground is easily accessible for those traveling through central Pennsylvania. It is located just a short drive from major natural attractions like Moshannon State Forest and the Susquehanna River. The facility prioritizes inclusivity, offering a wheelchair-accessible entrance, parking lot, and modern restroom facilities, ensuring that the joys of the PA Wilds are available to everyone. For those coming from the State College or Clearfield areas, the drive is scenic and straightforward, leading you into a rural paradise that feels secluded but is never difficult to find.

One of the most significant advantages of this location is its proximity to the Pennsylvania elk herd. Many visitors use the campground as a home base for elk viewing excursions, as the herds are frequently seen gathering in the fields just a mile or so away. The owners are always happy to provide directions to local "hot spots" where wildlife sightings are most common. Additionally, the park is conveniently located near the Mosquito Creek Sportsmen's Club and various state game lands, making it a premier choice for hunters, hikers, and photographers who want to be in the heart of Pennsylvania’s most active natural corridors.

Lauder Family Campground offers a variety of services designed to accommodate different styles of outdoor living. From high-end RV sites to primitive spots for those who want to truly "rough it," the services are professional and focused on the camper’s needs. The current offerings include:

  • Large RV camping sites, including both lower and upper campground loops that can accommodate rigs from 30 to 40 feet with multiple slides.
  • RV electric hookups available with both 30-amp and 50-amp service to power all your modern conveniences.
  • Onsite water access and a convenient dump station included with your stay for RV maintenance.
  • Clean, newly completed bathhouses featuring ADA-approved restrooms and hot showers.
  • Multiple lodging options including a fully furnished guesthouse and various cabins (ranging from primitive to log cabin styles).
  • A dedicated primitive tent camping area for group campers and "BDR-X" riders who prefer a more natural setting.
  • Onsite administrative services where the hosts provide local maps, travel tips, and even a tour of the grounds.
  • Convenient payment options including credit cards, debit cards, and traditional camping fees.

The features and highlights of the campground make it much more than just a place to park a trailer. The property is packed with amenities that encourage outdoor recreation and family bonding. Key highlights include:

  • Two private, stocked fishing ponds on the property that are home to "very large" fish, perfect for catch-and-release fun.
  • A variety of farm animals on-site, including cows, goats, chickens, and ducks, which children are often invited to visit and feed.
  • An extensive network of hiking and biking trails that traverse the 150-acre farm and border state game lands.
  • A well-maintained playground area with swings and play structures to keep younger children entertained.
  • Individual site amenities including sturdy picnic tables and fire pits with cooking grates for evening campfires.
  • A large pavilion in the primitive area available for group use, with optional electric for lights and events.
  • A pet-friendly environment where well-behaved dogs are allowed to explore the nature trails alongside their owners.
  • Unique onsite features like a working sawmill and wood shop where guests can learn about local timber traditions.

If you are ready to plan your trip to the heart of elk country, the Lauder family is ready to welcome you. Due to the popularity of the elk viewing seasons and local events, it is recommended to call ahead for reservations. You can reach the campground through the following contact information:

What is worth choosing about Lauder Family Campground is the rare combination of professional service and genuine, rural hospitality. In an era of corporate-owned RV resorts, staying here feels like visiting an old friend’s farm. It is worth choosing because the layout of the sites—split between the upper and lower campgrounds—allows for a sense of privacy and "lush tree" surroundings that many modern parks lack. The fact that the sites are level and spacious means that even those with large, modern campers can enjoy a stress-free setup.

Furthermore, the value of the location for wildlife enthusiasts cannot be overstated. Being so close to the Benezette elk viewing area while avoiding the massive crowds of the central visitor centers allows you to enjoy the beauty of the PA Wilds in peace. Whether you are waking up to a quiet walk around the fishing ponds with a cup of coffee or spending your evening under a clear, star-filled sky by the fire, Lauder Family Campground provides a high-quality, authentic experience. Choosing this campground means choosing a vacation where you can truly "unplug" from the digital world and "plug in" to the natural heritage of Pennsylvania. It is an investment in family memories that will keep you coming back season after season.

Wonderful experience. Beautiful campground. Owners are very accommodating. We booked at the last minute and forgot our pillows. They provided pillows and coats for us and checked on us throughout our stay if we needed anything. They provided directions to some areas of interest, we were able to find some Elk from their directions and made some awesome family experiences. Highly recommend this campground! The shower rooms were clean and really nice!

The owners live on the property and are very easy to work with and helpful if you need anything or want sites together. It definitely has a family atmosphere. It was a great weekend for fishing in the ponds and a lot of fish were caught and released including some big ones. There are just two shower rooms so we did have to wait a few minutes in the morning. The showers and bathrooms were always clean. There is no water hookup so you can fill your camper there at the bathhouse. Same with sewer, plan ahead or you may have to wait a few minutes if you wait till everyone else wants to empty their tank before leaving. The children enjoyed the small playground and swings. Definitely would stay here again!

We have stayed here twice now! Once was in a cabin and another time was with our camper! Both of our experiences were really great, from the time we called to reserve our stay to the time that we arrived and left and the time in between! They are helpful with finding your spot that your staying, making sure that you have everything that you need, finding good places to eat, fun things to do around or close by and ensuring that your stay is as home feeling as it can be! We love coming here and know that everyone else will as well! Only 15 minutes down the road are some of the best areas to see the Elk as well in Karhaust or you can drive about 20 minutes and find good places to eat or stop in and play at Fun Central! Whatever time of year there is something cool to do or just hang at your camping place and enjoy the surroundings!
