Leatherman's/Falling Waters Campsite Introduce

Leatherman's/Falling Waters Campsite has been a cornerstone of the outdoor hospitality industry in the West Virginia Eastern Panhandle for over six decades. Established in 1962 and still family-owned and operated by the Leatherman family, this unique destination has evolved from a simple roadside stop into a comprehensive multi-service facility. It is strategically positioned to serve the needs of long-haul travelers, seasonal residents, and local West Virginians alike. While it provides the traditional elements of a campground, it distinguishes itself by doubling as a major regional hub for RV parts, mobile home supplies, and propane services, making it an essential resource for the nomadic community passing through Berkeley County.

The atmosphere at Leatherman's is one of efficiency and practical hospitality. Unlike wilderness retreats designed for deep isolation, this campsite is optimized for convenience and accessibility. It is a "working" campground that understands the technical needs of RV owners. Whether you are dealing with a mechanical issue on the road or simply need a safe, level spot to rest for the night, the facility is equipped to handle everything from basic tent camping to large, multi-slide big rigs. The presence of on-site services, including a golf cart dealership and an extensive supply store, ensures that guests have everything they need to maintain their mobile lifestyle without having to venture back into the busy traffic of the surrounding metro areas.

Location and accessibility are the hallmark advantages of Leatherman's/Falling Waters Campsite. Situated at 7685 Williamsport Pike in Falling Waters, WV, the park is located just one mile from Exit 23 on Interstate 81. This makes it an exceptionally convenient stop for those traveling the heavily trafficked north-south corridor between Pennsylvania and Virginia. The site features a wide, wheelchair-accessible entrance and a well-marked parking lot designed to accommodate oversized vehicles. For those navigating with a "toad" (towed vehicle) or a large motorhome, the pull-through sites are specifically engineered for ease of entry and exit. Its proximity to Williamsport, Maryland, and Martinsburg, West Virginia, means that full-service dining, fuel, and grocery options are all within a five-minute drive.

  • RV Camping with Full Hookups: Featuring 50 designated sites with 20, 30, and 50-amp electrical service, along with dedicated water and sewer connections.
  • Extensive RV & Mobile Home Supply Store: One of the largest parts departments in the region, stocking everything from plumbing fixtures to specialized camper hardware.
  • Propane Refill Station: On-site propane available by weight or gallon, serving both portable tanks and chassis-mounted RV systems.
  • Storage Facility: Secure on-site storage options for RVs, boats, and personal belongings, catering to both short-term and long-term needs.
  • Golf Cart Dealership: Sales and service for golf carts, which are popular for navigating the local community and larger campgrounds.
  • Climate-Controlled Bathhouse: A modern, well-maintained facility providing hot showers and restrooms for tent and RV guests.
  • Self-Serve Laundry: On-site washing and drying machines available to guests to help maintain comfort during extended trips.
  • Call-Ahead System: A unique "Call Ahead Camping" program that allows travelers to secure a spot within 24 hours of arrival, providing flexibility for those on the road.

Features and highlights of the facility emphasize its role as a "Good Sam Park," ensuring a standard of quality and cleanliness that members have come to expect. The property is bounded by a peaceful creek, which provides a natural buffer and a scenic area for tent campers to enjoy a more traditional outdoor experience away from the main RV rows. For those traveling with families or pets, the park is designed to be inclusive and safe, offering plenty of space for walking dogs and a kid-friendly environment. The staff is noted for being highly technical and helpful, often assisting guests with RV-related questions or troubleshooting equipment issues right on-site.

  • Big-Rig Friendly: Wide turns and long pull-through sites that can easily accommodate 40-foot plus motorhomes and fifth wheels.
  • Free Wi-Fi: High-speed internet access available throughout the park, supporting both basic communication and streaming for travelers.
  • Pet-Friendly Policy: Dogs are welcome, with the creek area providing a pleasant spot for walks.
  • NFC and Digital Payments: Modernized payment systems that accept credit cards, debit cards, and mobile payments like Apple Pay and Google Pay.
  • Grilling Areas: Designated spots for outdoor cooking, allowing families to enjoy a traditional barbecue experience.
  • Safe and Secure: A well-lit facility with a family-managed presence that ensures a secure environment for overnight guests.
  • Regional Connectivity: Located near historic sites such as Harpers Ferry and the C&O Canal, making it a great jumping-off point for history buffs.
  • Ice Supplier: Large quantities of ice available for purchase, perfect for restocking coolers before hitting the road.

When choosing where to stay in the Eastern Panhandle, Leatherman's/Falling Waters Campsite is particularly worth choosing for its unmatched utility. While other parks might offer more in the way of resort-style swimming pools or organized social events, Leatherman's offers the peace of mind that comes with being at a full-service RV repair and supply hub. If a part breaks on your camper, you are already at the place that likely has the replacement in stock. This "one-stop-shop" aspect is invaluable for the serious RVer. Furthermore, the commitment to the "Call Ahead" system means you won't find yourself stranded after a long day of driving; a quick phone call usually guarantees you a safe place to park.

Great place. Clean. Good facilities. They sell anything u need for an rv or camper. Only thing is the cost. 1070 a month for water elec and sewer plus Wi-Fi. I mean if I wanted to pay a grand a month I’d live in an apartment. How is a 16 by 20 foot(not exact) area worth that much a month. They have to be making north of 20k a month per acre. That’s ridiculous in my book. Why is everyone so greedy. I’m a capitalist sure. But a reasonable one.

Never again! Horrible access. Mostly a trailer park. Loud, dusty, and they locked up a gate that forced me to either detach my toad or skip using the waste dump. This was the ONLY reason I chose to stay here in the first place. Would rather boondock at Walmart!!!!

Nothing fancy but conveniently located off the highway and close to a main strip with a Walmart, gas stations, and other stores. We’ve stayed here a few times simply for overnights while traveling to other destinations. They’ll leave check-in packets on the door if you arrive after hours. Expect gravel/dirt roadsand tight sites - you will be close to your neighbors. They have both back in and pull through sites. If you’re looking for a decent, overnight travel stop - this place works. We’ll be back if it’s along our next travel route.

A decent option for an overnight stay. We have a 25 foot Class C towing a Jeep and arrived after closing with a map, receipt and rules left where promised. Plenty of room to unhook out front. Roads around the campground are hilly, but our site was relatively level. The bathroom could use some updating and cleaning. Automatic paper towel dispenser was either broken or empty from the moment of arrival. As was mentioned in other reviews, most people staying here are full-timers, but that’s okay with us. Less than a mile off I-81, so very convenient for those traveling the interstate. We had no issue of road noise as mentioned by others. They have a nice little pond out front which seems to be a goose magnet so watch where you walk. They are proud of their longevity here, but a few updates would really help. It appears they have a nice little camping store, but it wasn’t open during our overnight stay. If passing through, we’d stop here again.

Stayed one night in late April. Our spot was right along a very noisy road. The bathrooms were a long muddy walk away and they were disgusting. The whole park seems to have long been under construction. We would advise against staying here.
