Loon Lake Campground & Function Lodge Introduce

Loon Lake Campground & Function Lodge is a distinct outdoor destination situated in the peaceful town of Croydon, New Hampshire. Nestled within the scenic Dartmouth-Lake Sunapee region, this campground offers a serene escape for those looking to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the Granite State. The property is characterized by its expansive 100-acre private lake, which serves as a pristine backdrop for both seasonal campers and those hosting significant life events. Managed by Modern America Campgrounds, the site balances the rugged appeal of the New Hampshire woods with the convenience of organized community living.

The campground is well-regarded by the local community for its quiet atmosphere, largely due to a strict policy prohibiting gas-powered motors on the lake. This ensures that the crystal-clear waters remain tranquil, making it an ideal spot for paddle sports and wildlife observation. Beyond its role as a seasonal retreat, the facility doubles as a versatile event center, featuring a spacious function lodge that overlooks the water. This combination of recreational space and formal gathering facilities makes it a unique landmark in Sullivan County, catering to local residents and travelers seeking a authentic New Hampshire experience.

Location and accessibility are key components of the Loon Lake experience. Located at 5 Loon Lake Campground Road, the park is easily reached via Route 10, providing a straightforward drive for residents coming from Concord, Lebanon, or the Manchester area. The facility has made significant strides in ensuring inclusivity, featuring wheelchair-accessible entrances, restrooms, and designated parking areas. Its proximity to Mount Sunapee State Park and the larger Lake Sunapee area means guests are never far from additional hiking, skiing, and cultural attractions, though the campground itself offers enough privacy to feel worlds away from the hustle of daily life.

What makes Loon Lake Campground worth choosing is its commitment to maintaining a quiet, family-oriented environment in a region that can often become crowded during the peak summer months. By restricting gas motors, the park preserves a level of silence that is increasingly hard to find, allowing the sounds of local loons and nature to take center stage. For RV owners, the availability of full hookups—including sewer and 50-amp service—provides a level of comfort that makes long-term seasonal stays both practical and enjoyable. Furthermore, the ability to host a wedding or large family reunion at the same location where guests can stay overnight in their RVs creates a convenient and memorable "destination" experience right in the heart of New Hampshire.

We started camping here when it was still owned by a person and not a corporation like it is now. It was a hidden gem and a very special place, but since it has been purchased by Modern America Campgrounds that is no longer the case. Campers whose seasonal sites were flooded the entire season were not given a break on their rates and were instead told if you don’t like it leave. Campers who complained about numerous pot holes were also told the same thing. Management has no issues referring to people as stupid, etc in group emails that all the campers receive. They will also talk negatively about other campers and their boss to you so I’m sure they will talk about you. They will berate those who don’t follow the rules, but then will also refuse to enforce them because it might impact their bottom line (as told to me by one of the local managers who used to be a used car salesman). The campground is in need of repairs with areas falling apart or simply not being addressed like the access gate that hasn’t worked in over a year. Some people will get charged for things that others don’t and again when the local manager is questioned about it you get told that he will do what he wants to. Most sites are 30amp and even all the 50amp sites won’t support two air conditioners running at the same time. Hopefully the dam to the lake gets fixed so that you won’t be able to walk across it like this year.

Lovely place. Visiting parents and they love it there. Peaceful. Quiet. Fun. Lots of opportunity for activities or to spend a quiet night around the fire. The lake is beautiful and campground is kept up nicely.

After unsuccessful and overwhelming wedding and reception venue visitations, a local told us about this hidden gem it was a great experience. The owners are both so kind and down to earth. Our bus driver said they let her hang out with them and chat while she waited for the event. If you're looking for a low-stress venue, this is it.

Our first seasonal site and we're so happy we chose this place. Doesn't have all the glitz and glamour of other places but it has turned into our 2nd home and family. We love this place!!
