Tippicanoe Campground Introduce

For residents of the Granite State, the tradition of heading to the woods to reconnect with nature is a fundamental part of the New Hampshire lifestyle. Tippicanoe Campground, located in the quiet town of Goshen, offers a unique opportunity to step back in time while enjoying modern amenities. Established originally as a boys' camp in 1911, it is frequently recognized as one of the oldest, if not the oldest, campgrounds in New Hampshire. Today, it serves as a serene sanctuary for families and outdoor enthusiasts who appreciate a clean, tobacco-free, and tranquil environment. Nestled along the southern shoreline of Rand Pond, the campground provides a picturesque setting where the calls of local loons and the gentle lapping of spring-fed waters set a relaxing pace for your stay.

Tippicanoe is a community-oriented destination that strikes a balance between dedicated seasonal residents and short-term visitors. While many of the sites are occupied by families who have called the park their summer home for years, there is a warm welcome extended to "transient" campers looking for a weekend or weekly retreat. The grounds are meticulously maintained, featuring immaculate facilities and a clear commitment to preserving the natural beauty of the Sunapee region. Whether you are seeking a quiet place to read on a sandy beach or a home base for exploring the nearby mountains, this campground offers a wholesome atmosphere that prioritizes meaningful connections over digital distractions.

Location and accessibility make Tippicanoe an ideal choice for local travelers. Situated at 1295 Brook Rd, Goshen, NH 03752, the campground is easily reached via paved state roads. It is located on Brook Road, which acts as a convenient connector between Route 103 (accessible via Exit 9 off I-89) and Route 10 from Newport. This central positioning puts you just four miles away from the expansive Mount Sunapee State Park and Beach, providing easy access to larger boating and jet skiing opportunities. The campground itself is designed with inclusivity in mind, offering a wheelchair-accessible entrance, accessible parking lots, and modified restroom facilities to ensure all guests can enjoy the property comfortably.

The services offered at Tippicanoe Campground are designed to cater to a variety of camping needs, with a particular focus on RV travelers. The management takes great pride in providing a high standard of utility and care. Available services include:

  • Full RV hookups at dedicated sites, including 50-amp electric service, water, and sewer connections.
  • Dedicated tent sites for those who prefer a more traditional, rustic camping experience under the stars.
  • Professional on-site management that maintains a smoke-free and vape-free environment for the health and comfort of all guests.
  • Clean and modern public restrooms and shower facilities, which are frequently cited by visitors for their cleanliness.
  • Large on-site laundry facilities, making extended stays more convenient for families.
  • A well-stocked camp store and a recreation hall that serves as the hub for community events and gatherings.
  • Winter storage options for seasonal residents, allowing for a seamless transition between camping seasons.

Features and highlights of a stay at Tippicanoe are centered around the beautiful Rand Pond and the active community life of the park. From the water’s edge to the wooded trails, there is no shortage of ways to fill your days. Key highlights include:

  • A private, spring-fed pond with a clean sandy bottom, perfect for swimming, kayaking, and canoeing.
  • A state-stocked trout pond that offers exceptional fishing opportunities for anglers of all ages.
  • A family-friendly sandy beach with a gentle slope into the water, making it safe and enjoyable for young children.
  • A well-maintained playground located right near the water, allowing parents to relax while kids play.
  • A diverse schedule of special events, including live bands, pig roasts, lobster festivals, and trivia nights.
  • Picnic tables and fire rings at every site, fostering the classic campfire experience.
  • Proximity to local hiking trails that lead to panoramic views of the surrounding Sullivan County landscape.
  • A pet-friendly policy that allows dogs for seasonal campers, ensuring the whole family can stay together.

For those interested in booking a short-term stay or inquiring about seasonal availability, the office at Tippicanoe Campground is the best place to start. Given the popularity of the site, especially during the peak summer months and holiday weekends, advance reservations are highly recommended. What is worth choosing when it comes to Tippicanoe Campground is the uncompromising commitment to a clean and peaceful environment. For a New Hampshire local, finding a totally smoke-free and drug-free campground is a significant benefit, especially when traveling with children. The park is worth choosing for its historical significance and its "old-school" camping vibe, where the focus is on the environment and the community rather than flashy commercial attractions. The immaculate state of the washrooms and the friendly, social nature of the long-term residents create a level of comfort that makes it feel like a true "home away from home."

Additionally, the location serves as a perfect gateway to the Sunapee region. You are close enough to the action of Mount Sunapee’s adventure park and the Vermont Country Store for day trips, yet far enough away to avoid the seasonal traffic. The calm waters of Rand Pond, restricted to motors under 10 HP, ensure that your time on the water remains quiet and safe for paddlers and swimmers. Whether you are looking to start a new family tradition at New Hampshire's oldest campground or simply need a quiet weekend by a trout-stocked pond, Tippicanoe Campground offers a high-quality, authentic, and deeply relaxing outdoor experience.

Cute campground that is larger than it initially appears. There are a lot of seasonal campers m, but space for short term stays. We stayed just 2 nights at a spot in front of the main building with full hookups. The grounds are immaculate and the staff are super friendly. The laundry room is large and the washrooms are large, bright, and clean. It’s a shared washroom with individual shoulder stalls, a large counter with sinks in the main area, and individual shower rooms. Showers and laundry are for a fee. There’s a cute beach area with a playground and beautiful views. If you visit in June, bring bug spray!!

Be careful it’s really not a good place to be. The owner in the assistant are not good people confidentially you could talk to other campers. You would find most of them dislike the owner and wish they never went in there for the campground. It’s beautiful but the owners we have a lot to desire, so for a high price, Campground, you might want to look elsewhere

We actually have only visited family staying here and it's great! Friendly staff and a great playground on the beach. Can't think of a better way to spend a hot summer day than sitting on the beach while the kids swim and dig and play!! Plus it's NH so a beautiful view around the lake is always eye candy.Oh and a Geocache is nearby if you are in to that!! A great place to stay and play in the heart of true New Hampshire.

Beautiful campground. We were bullied out of our site in 2022.Management always prevails without any conscious. Consequences could be and has been immediate eviction. Buyer beware.

We have been here for 6yrs and absolutely love it here. It's our piece of serenity. We have meet so many people and have become close friends with many. There are music venues and seafood festival and pig roast! Floating on the pond is so relaxing and a great way to meet new people. Absolutely recommend this campground. Remember it's the oldest campground in New Hampshire!!!
