What makes Muddy Run Park worth choosing is its reputation as a "complete" outdoor destination. Many campgrounds offer either a lake or a trail system, but Muddy Run provides a holistic recreational ecosystem. For families, the combination of the splash pad, playgrounds, and easy "kid-friendly" hikes means that children are entertained from dawn until dusk. The park is also famous for its deer population; it is not uncommon to count dozens of deer grazing in the fields at dusk, providing a magical experience for nature photographers and animal lovers.

Furthermore, the value proposition at Muddy Run is hard to beat. The rental prices for boats and kayaks are kept affordable, making it accessible for families to spend an entire afternoon on the water without breaking the bank. While some veteran campers note that certain sites on the rolling hillsides may require a bit of extra effort to level, the tradeoff is a beautiful, wooded setting with paved pads and plenty of shade. The snack bar, which guests often describe as more of a restaurant than a simple refreshment stand, offers a high-quality dining option that simplifies the camping experience for those who want a break from the charcoal grill.

Ultimately, choosing Muddy Run Park means choosing a location that understands the diverse needs of the modern Pennsylvania camper. Whether you are there for a quiet weekend of solo fishing, a high-energy family birthday celebration at one of the pavilions, or a week-long RV retreat, the park delivers a consistent, high-quality experience. Its blend of traditional camping charm and modern amenities like Wi-Fi and clean showers ensures that you can enjoy the rugged beauty of Lancaster County with all the comforts you need. For local residents, it is not just a park; it is a recurring summer tradition that offers something new to discover with every visit.

Campground was great but if you have a camper, beware that some spaces are far from level. We had to move sites as we could not get the thing stable, and then we witnessed our neighbors having the same issue so they were moved also. But.. the grounds and lake are beautiful, the snack bar is more like a restaurant and the people were super friendly.

This is such a beautiful park. Great place to go for family fun. There is something for everyone. Sprinklers for children to get wet is free. Boats, kayaks and canoes available to rent. Great place for fishing. My husband only caught one little guy but we weren’t there early or very long. Some of the fellow fisherman went home with 5-6 fish large enough for meals. Dog friendly and plenty of grills and tables for picnic

Memorial weekend camping with the extended family. A yearly event that has grown in popularity and size each year. Plots are very affordable and the comforts of hot showers with a blend of both RV and outdoor tents this place is great. A lot of activities from frisbee golf, boat fishing on this huge lake or just fun hiking on the many trails. Snack bar for both adults and kids alike. Reservations are a must and any additional campers can be easily added per site rented. Been coming here since I was knee high to a grass hopper and still love it.

Kayaking on the lake is beautiful. Saw some wildlife. There is also a very nice hiking trail that follows the edge of the lake and its several branches. Almost 4 miles long if you do the complete loop.

What a wonderful time with the group and the dogs. Did s'mores by the fire and splashed in the water park. They had inexpensive bots to rent for $20 for first hour and other activities. The snack bar had plenty of food to choose from and it all felt very safe and welcoming. Came with a big group and every one had a splendid time.
