Sun Outdoors Cape May, formerly known as Holly Shores Camping Resort, is a highly regarded destination for travelers seeking a premium outdoor experience at the southernmost tip of New Jersey. Nestled within a lush 38-acre woodland setting, this resort offers a unique blend of coastal excitement and forest tranquility. For residents of New Jersey and visitors alike, it serves as a sophisticated home base for exploring the historic charm of Cape May and the high-energy boardwalks of Wildwood. The park is meticulously designed to cater to a variety of camping styles, providing an environment that is both family-friendly and community-oriented, making it a staple of the Cape May County tourism landscape.

The resort is part of the prestigious Sun Outdoors family, which is known for elevating the standard of RV travel through consistent quality and diverse amenities. At Sun Outdoors Cape May, guests are greeted by a professional team dedicated to ensuring a seamless stay. The park’s layout balances privacy with accessibility, offering shaded sites that provide a cool reprieve during the humid New Jersey summer months. Whether you are an experienced RVer with a luxury motorhome or a family looking to try out a vacation rental for the first time, this park provides a secure and well-managed atmosphere that emphasizes the joy of the Great Outdoors.

Location and accessibility are among the park's greatest assets. Situated at 491 US-9, Sun Outdoors Cape May is positioned conveniently along one of the region's most important transit veins. For local users, this means direct access to the Garden State Parkway and other primary routes, simplifying the journey from Northern and Central New Jersey. The resort is just a 10-minute drive from the iconic Washington Street Mall in Cape May and a similarly short distance from the Wildwood beaches. Accessibility is a priority at the resort, which features a wheelchair-accessible entrance, parking lot, and restroom facilities to ensure that all guests can enjoy the grounds comfortably.

The resort’s positioning also makes it an ideal spot for those who enjoy active recreation. Within a short distance, visitors can find the Cape May National Wildlife Refuge, offering miles of hiking and birdwatching trails. The proximity to the Cape May-Lewes Ferry also opens up possibilities for day trips to Delaware, while local wineries, breweries, and the Cape May County Park & Zoo are all within a 15-minute radius. This central location allows guests to experience the best of the Jersey Shore without being trapped in the heavy traffic of the immediate beachfront zones.

Sun Outdoors Cape May is committed to providing a high-quality service experience with a range of onsite offerings designed for convenience. From the moment you arrive, the focus is on providing all the utilities and support services needed for a modern camping trip. The resort accepts multiple payment forms, including credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments, reflecting its commitment to modern guest needs.

  • Full RV hookups including electric (20, 30, and 50 amp), water, and sewer connections for a hassle-free stay.
  • High-speed WiFi access throughout the park to keep you connected with work or family.
  • Onsite laundry facilities and clean, modern bathhouses for guest convenience.
  • A well-stocked resort store offering ice, firewood, snacks, and essential RV supplies at reasonable prices.

The features and highlights of Sun Outdoors Cape May are what truly define it as a resort rather than just a simple campground. The amenities are designed to entertain guests of all ages, with a particular focus on family-friendly activities. The centerpiece of the resort is a large, heated outdoor swimming pool accompanied by a relaxing hot tub and a dedicated kiddie pool for younger children. These facilities are often the hub of social activity, providing a clean and safe environment for cooling off after a day at the beach.

  • Heated outdoor swimming pool and hot tub, often cited by guests as a highlight of their stay.
  • Expansive playground area and a jumping pillow that provide hours of entertainment for children.

  • Seasonal themed events and planned activities, ranging from arts and crafts to community cookouts.
  • A variety of lodging options beyond RV sites, including charming cottage rentals and "tiny house" accommodations.
  • Onsite game room and sports courts for friendly competition among residents and guests.

For those looking to book a stay or inquire about seasonal site availability, the resort office is available to provide the most current information. Given the popularity of the Cape May region, particularly during the peak summer months, early reservations are highly encouraged. The staff can provide details on site dimensions to ensure your rig fits comfortably and can explain the different tiers of sites available, from standard back-ins to deluxe pull-throughs with concrete patios.

Rented a small cabin, queen and a bunkbed. Was extremely small for what the picture showed on the website.Semi-clean except for shower head, Keurig machine.Does sulfur water was tough to handle.Needed a little better maintenance screen door was broken. And maintenance on the coffee machine and the shower.Very tight sites they packed in as many as they can get.And I'm sorry camping like that with your neighbor right on top of you is not camping to me.Staff members were all excellent, friendly, courteous, helpful. But for the prices Sun outdoors charges offseason in the middle of the week, that cabin should have been immaculate, with a free dinner.

My family and I had a great experience at this campground. Our site had plenty of space and was right next to pool and bathroom. The location is great, not a far drive from cape may and wildwood. The pool was clean and water was warm, hot tub was hot. It was very quiet and peaceful at night. The store was reasonably priced. My only complaint, The bathroom was a bit hot and could have used a little more cleaning, but it was usable! Would definitely return again

We have camped here before in our pop up. This year we decided to check into a deluxe cabin (262). We arrived yesterday for a week. From the outside, it's nice. Inside, there's a smell. Like mildew. It is quite gross. The water smells horrible. You have to use bottled water to brush your teeth and make ice. There is a super small outdated tv in the living room and none in the bedroom. I like to watch TV before bed. My biggest complaint is the wifi. I paid $1900 for the week and the wifi is non-existent. Some may think this isn't a big deal but I can assure you, in the year 2025, wifi is necessary. If I pay $1900, I expect wifi.

This was our first time staying at this Sun Outdoors cape may location.we’ll start by saying we were surprised the campsite wasn’t cleaned before our arrival, and we were very disappointment with the size of the campsites, they are so small and everyone is wedged in, its so tight and everyone is on top of each other. We would have liked to see more family amenities and things to do, our experience in the sun outdoors campground in ocean city Maryland was amazing, so we expected a similar experience.also we were very surprised the staff did not enforce quiet time, there were several neighboring sites that were really loud late at night, we could hear loud golf carts at 2a with music blastingand young teens reckless with gold carts. we understand kids will be kids, we brought our own, but we expected rules and people to respectful of them. Obviously the location is great as you’re close to Cape May and all the nearby sites to see. However, overall our family and Family friends that we traveled with were not impressed with this campsite at all and will most likely not return, We have stayed in much more welcoming campsites for far less money and never asked to pay additional lock fees which we still don't understand since everyone was absolutely on top of each other.

This campground was recently purchased by Sun Outdoors and in the mist of still making the switch over. However, you can see the money and the changes that are being put into the campground to be updated. At no point were we affected by the renovations or work being done on site during our stay. Our family appreciated the ease of arrival, the pool and the other amenities the campground had to offer. As you get further I to the campground you can see a slight difference from the front entrance as far as the grounds go, but with time we have faith! We’ll see you again next year!
