Sun Retreats Cape May Wildwood Introduce

Sun Retreats Cape May Wildwood, formerly known as Seashore Campsites & Forest Resorts, represents the pinnacle of outdoor hospitality in Southern New Jersey. For decades, this destination has served as a cornerstone for New Jersey families seeking a refined camping experience near the state's most famous coastal attractions. As part of the prestigious Sun Outdoors family, the resort has undergone significant transformations to offer a luxury-focused environment that caters to modern RV travelers and vacationers. Nestled in a lush, wooded landscape, the park provides a sprawling sanctuary where the tradition of camping meets the convenience of a high-end resort, making it a favorite for both seasonal residents and short-term weekend warriors from across the Garden State.

The resort is uniquely positioned to offer a dual experience: the rustic charm of the New Jersey pine forests and the vibrant energy of the nearby Atlantic beaches. Whether you are arriving in a luxury Class A motorhome or looking for a cozy cabin rental, Sun Retreats Cape May Wildwood is designed to accommodate diverse needs. The community atmosphere is palpable, with many residents returning year after year, creating a neighborhood feel that is welcoming to newcomers. The park prides itself on its vast array of amenities, including a private lake with a white sand beach, ensuring that even on days when you don't feel like driving to the ocean, the water is never more than a short walk from your site.

Location and accessibility are two of the strongest arguments for choosing this resort. Situated at 669 US-9, Cape May, NJ 08204, the park is remarkably easy to find. For New Jersey residents traveling via the Garden State Parkway, the resort is just a few minutes from the southern terminus, allowing travelers to bypass much of the heavy downtown congestion found in Cape May and Wildwood. This strategic location on Route 9 provides a direct corridor to the historic Victorian streets of Cape May to the south and the world-famous boardwalks and beaches of Wildwood to the east, both of which are approximately a ten-to-fifteen-minute drive away.

The resort is committed to inclusivity, featuring a wheelchair-accessible entrance, accessible parking lots, and designated accessible restrooms and shower facilities. The terrain within the park is generally flat and well-maintained, with wide roads that allow for the easy maneuvering of large RVs. For those who rely on public or local transit, the resort's position on a major local highway ensures that various services, from grocery stores to medical facilities in Lower Township, are just a short trip away. Furthermore, the gated entry provides an added layer of security and peace of mind for families with young children and expensive recreational equipment.

Sun Retreats Cape May Wildwood offers a comprehensive suite of onsite services to ensure a seamless vacation experience. These services include:

  • Full Hookup RV Camping: High-quality sites equipped with RV electric hookups (30 and 50 amp), sewer hookups, and fresh water connections.
  • Cabin and Cottage Rentals: A variety of rental units ranging from primitive one-room cabins to luxury cottages with full bathrooms and kitchens.
  • Professional Site Management: An onsite office staff and maintenance crew dedicated to groundskeeping and resident assistance.
  • Sanitation and Bathhouse Services: Multiple clean and spacious bathhouses featuring hot showers and modern restroom facilities.
  • Onsite Convenience Store: A well-stocked camp store offering groceries, RV supplies, ice, firewood, and souvenir items.
  • Propane Refilling Station: Essential services for long-term travelers to keep their units running smoothly.
  • Flexible Payment Options: Acceptance of credit cards, debit cards, and modern NFC mobile payments for all transactions and camping fees.

The highlights of the resort are designed to keep guests entertained without ever needing to leave the premises. Key features include:

  • Private Lake and Sand Beach: A beautiful inland lake perfect for swimming, featuring a clean white sand beach with complimentary lounge chairs.
  • Multi-Aged Swimming Pool: A large outdoor pool with a shallow end starting at just 1.5 feet, making it perfect for toddlers and young children to stand safely.
  • Children's Playground: A modern, well-maintained playground area that provides a safe space for kids to socialize and play.
  • Sports Courts: Facilities for basketball, tennis, and pickleball, catering to active adults and teenagers.
  • Dog-Friendly Environment: The resort welcomes dogs, providing plenty of wooded paths for walking your four-legged family members.
  • Planned Community Activities: A robust seasonal schedule including movie nights, live music, themed weekends, and organized crafts for children.
  • Golf Cart Rentals: Onsite rentals to help guests navigate the large property with ease (though early reservation and confirmation are recommended).

What makes Sun Retreats Cape May Wildwood worth choosing is the sheer variety and quality of its amenities. For families in New Jersey, it offers a "vacation within a vacation." You have the security and quiet of a wooded retreat at night, while being minutes away from the excitement of the Wildwood boardwalk during the day. The inclusion of a private lake and a specialized shallow-entry pool makes it an exceptional choice for parents with young children, as it provides a controlled and safe environment for water play that is often less overwhelming than the Atlantic surf.

Furthermore, the cleanliness of the facilities—particularly the spacious bathhouses and well-kept cabins—regularly earns praise from guests. While the coastal location does mean that packing bug repellent is a must for the evening hours, the trade-off is a peaceful, tree-lined campsite that feels worlds away from the urban bustle. The resort's ability to cater to everyone from the primitive tent camper to the luxury RVer ensures a diverse and lively community. Whether you are looking for a quick three-day escape or a permanent seasonal home in the heart of Cape May County, Sun Retreats Cape May Wildwood provides a reliable, high-standard destination that captures the best of the Jersey Shore lifestyle. Would you like me to help you check on their current seasonal discounts or provide a list of local restaurants that deliver directly to the resort gates?

Campsite and resort amenities were great. Only issue was with management of the office when it came to reserving a golf cart. I reserve the golf course months in advanced, but when I showed up on checking day, I was told one wasn’t available because some of them weren’t running or some other excuse. I asked what was the point of the reservation . They didn’t have an answer. Personally, I think they just overbooked and instead of holding carts for those who had reservations first it was first come first serve. I get this, but it would have been nice to have received a phone call prior to check-in. The manager didn’t seem overly concerned about making this right and said they would refund my money. And then everything would be fine. Their manager did allow me to call an outside vendor to reserve another cart, which took more time than it should have. They should’ve done this for me if they had great customer service, but I wasn’t able to secure a golf cart until the next day. That was only possible because the golf cart vendor was nice enough as they require 24 hours notice. They did offer me a free bag of ice or a bag of firewood, but I don’t think that concession was worth the inconvenience and frustration. Perhaps a small voucher for another future stay would’ve made it right but they didn’t seem to care.

Before our first trip as a family of three, I was pretty nervous due to so many negative reviews specifically on Google. But boy did we love this place, we’re already discussing booking a longer trip in a larger cabin for next summer (we got the smallest cabin, one room no bathroom). It was clean & cozy, the bathrooms were clean and spacious, as were the showers. You can’t beat the beach at the lake with free chairs and a pool perfect for any age child to stand in being that the low end was only 1.5 ft deep. Staff was extremely friendly as well. My only complaint was the mosquitos but that’s out of everyone’s control. Only advice I can give about this place is to pack literally every kind of bug repellent you possibly can! Either way, 10/10.

We stayed in a tent here for 2 nights. A TREE BRANCH FELL THROUGH OUR TENT ON THE SECOND NIGHT AND WAS 6 INCHES AWAY FROM KILLING OR SERIOUSLY INJURING MY SON! Thankfully no one was hurt. The limb was obviously dead and covered in moss. The guards at the gate are total unhelpful and unknowledgeable about anything. Also on the second night there was some kind of domestic dispute that woke us up. The teenagers are all over the streets after dark posing a hazard when driving. The teenagers also come in the bathroom when you're showering and scream random stuff. Mosquitos are also bad here. Also, the sites are pretty small and our sight was covered in grass clippings as they did not bag it. For the amount of money that they charge it should be a lot better. At the very least they should trim their dead limbs!

Adding to this as the response was maybe wrong resort. No, I am aware of what resort I was at. Just another way of you of ignoring the horrible conditions. Not the best response.Wow! This place is a disgusting and disgraceful. Sewer all over the ground. Garbage everywhere. Loud party’s. No security. I’m surprised the health department hasn’t shut this place down. Save your money and go elsewhere. Disgusting bathhouses. Went to discuss these issues with the interim manager who was a young girl, and she was crying and complaining about being overworked and stressed out. Obviously not able to handle the job. Sun you should be ashamed of yourself!

My wife's family has been going here for over 40 years. And I have been going for the past 20 with my wife. Despite the ownership changes this will always be Lake Laurie. Unfortunatley some unexpected circumstances came up and we had to abandon our trip early. The staff and management were exceptionally accommodating and made a stressful situation easier. My family and I can not thank them enough and look forward to our next trip down. We will most certainly continue to use Sun Outdoors Cape May Wildwood as our Jersey Shore camping destination.
