What is worth choosing about Cherokee Campground & Family is the exceptional value for money and the genuine, friendly atmosphere that defines the experience. In an area known for its high-priced tourist resorts, this campground remains an affordable option that doesn't compromise on the quality of the natural setting. It is worth choosing for the stunning 20-acre wooded landscape alone, which provides a level of shade and seclusion that is rare in many modern RV parks. Whether you are a hiker looking for a basecamp near the Appalachian Trail or a parent searching for a safe, kid-friendly environment where your children can run free, Cherokee delivers a classic Pennsylvania camping experience.
Additionally, the location serves as a perfect "middle ground" for those who want to see the sights of Gettysburg or Hershey during the day but return to a quiet, star-filled sky at night. While it is a simple facility, it provides the necessary infrastructure to make memories that last a lifetime. From the quick service at the Snack Shack to the warmth of a fire made with wood bought right on-site, the convenience factors are high. For those who appreciate a place where dogs are welcome and the owners go out of their way to make you feel like family, Cherokee Campground & Family is a premier choice in the Gardners region. Customer Reviews
My friends and I stayed here over the 4th July weekend. The cabin was nice for the price. I bought food at the Snack Shack and it was good and quick service. We bought firewood for our campfire right on site which is a plus. The pool was warm and fairly clean. While I respect the culture and activities of the campground, I was a bit upset at a few things during my stay.1. Dirty and smelly women's bathroom.2. We couldn't connect to the Wi-Fi at all.3.The firepit had trash in it left from previous users.4.Blocking the entrance to our cabin when coming in at 10pm at night cause of the fireworks show displayed on the road. On both Friday and Saturday after a long day we had to stop and wait to drive up to our cabin because of the fireworks they were doing. It lasted around 30-to 40 mins. I think it can be done elsewhere other than the entrance of the campgrounds.
Very good value for money. Friendly and generally quiet campsite. Simple but has the necessary infrastructure and is located in the middle of various historically interesting places and hiking opportunities. Children and dogs are also welcome here. You have to try Nader's bagels and pancakes!
Literally THE best campgrounds that my husband and I have stayed at so far!!! We had a deck for our fifth wheel which was super awesome because we have for dogs. The gravel that they've added to the captains is great because it really cus down on the fort tracked in by or shoes and prevents mud build up around the doors. It is so peaceful, beautiful and quiet here. We stayed for a month and the rate was perfect. We also had a fire pit provided (each individual site has their own provided by the owner). Would highly recommend!!
Had a really good time here. The cabin was really nice for the price and the owner was extremely friendly. The beds were a little outdated but it wasn’t any bedbugs like the Karen wrote previously. An older campground and nothing extravagant but if you just want a relaxing weekend to get away this is the place to go. They have a nice pool and everyone seemed pretty friendly. We will be back in the future.
Would not recommend this place. Price on the website is different than when you get there. You have to sit on the toilet sideways because when you sit on the toilet you can’t shut the door. Bathroom doors didn’t have locks on them. Some showers didn’t have shower curtains. Only reason we made reservations was their website and it was wrong.
