Hemlock Valley Campground Introduce

Hemlock Valley Campground offers a serene escape for those looking to experience the quiet beauty of rural Pennsylvania. Located in the charming community of Unityville, this family-owned and operated facility provides a stark contrast to the busy, high-traffic commercial resorts often found in more tourist-heavy regions. Here, the focus is on a traditional camping experience where the natural landscape takes center stage. Nestled along the banks of the Little Muncy Creek, the campground is defined by its towering hemlock trees and the soothing sounds of flowing water, making it a premier destination for local residents seeking a "back to basics" retreat without sacrificing essential comforts.

The atmosphere at Hemlock Valley is intentionally laid-back and professional, catering to families, outdoor enthusiasts, and solo travelers alike. Unlike larger chain operations, the personal touch of the owners is evident throughout the grounds, from the well-maintained sites to the friendly greeting upon arrival. This is the kind of place where neighbors get to know one another over a shared campfire and children can safely explore the outdoors. The campground effectively balances the needs of different types of travelers, offering spacious accommodations for large RVs alongside secluded, rustic spots for those who prefer to spend their nights under canvas in a traditional tent setup.

Location and accessibility are among the campground's strongest suits for those traveling within the Central Pennsylvania region. Situated at 9424 PA-118, Hemlock Valley is remarkably easy to reach via the scenic Route 118 corridor, which connects the rolling hills of Lycoming County with the rugged beauty of Ricketts Glen State Park. Despite its remote feel, the entrance is clearly marked and features a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, ensuring that all guests can navigate the initial check-in process with ease. Its proximity to both Williamsport and Bloomsburg makes it a convenient weekend getaway for residents of these hubs, while still feeling worlds away from the urban hustle. The campground layout is thoughtfully designed to provide easy access to the creek, with many of the best sites situated directly on the water's edge.

  • Full-service RV camping sites with water and electric hookups.
  • Dedicated primitive and semi-primitive tent camping areas.
  • Clean and fully operational bathhouse featuring hot showers and flush toilets.
  • On-site sewer dump station for the convenience of RV travelers.
  • Large, level campsites capable of accommodating various rig sizes.
  • On-site management and hospitality services for guest assistance.
  • Accessible parking facilities and entrance pathways.
  • Designated areas for group gatherings and family picnics.
  • Mobile phone reception is generally stable for most major carriers in the area.

The features and highlights of Hemlock Valley Campground are deeply rooted in its natural surroundings. The Little Muncy Creek is undoubtedly the star of the show, providing not only a beautiful backdrop but also some of the best trout fishing in the area. Anglers frequently enjoy the convenience of "fly fishing from their front door," as several sites sit just feet from the water. For families, the park offers a safe environment where children can engage in classic outdoor play, from wading in the shallow parts of the creek to using the on-site rope swings that have become a favorite tradition for young visitors.

  • Prime creek-side sites offering direct access to Little Muncy Creek.
  • Excellent trout fishing opportunities right on the campground property.
  • Hand-crafted rope swings that provide hours of entertainment for children.
  • Sturdy picnic tables and heavy-duty fire rings provided at every individual site.
  • Pet-friendly policies that allow dogs to enjoy the wooded trails and creek.
  • A peaceful, remote atmosphere with minimal light pollution, perfect for stargazing.
  • Abundant shade provided by the native hemlock and hardwood forest.
  • Close proximity to the famous waterfalls and hiking trails of Ricketts Glen State Park.
  • A family-oriented environment that prioritizes quiet hours and guest relaxation.
  • Clean, well-lit facilities that are maintained daily by the on-site owners.

For those interested in visiting or checking for holiday weekend availability, the owners of Hemlock Valley Campground can be reached through their local office. Given the popularity of their creek-front sites, especially during the spring trout season and major summer holidays like Memorial Day or Labor Day, early reservations are highly encouraged. The park generally follows the standard Pennsylvania camping season, opening in the spring as the weather warms and staying active through the beautiful autumn foliage season.

Choosing Hemlock Valley Campground is worth it for anyone who values authenticity and tranquility over the bells and whistles of modern "glamping" resorts. It is worth choosing specifically for the angler who wants to wake up to the sight of rising trout, or for the family that wants to disconnect from digital distractions and reconnect with one another. The affordability of the park makes it an excellent value for those looking for a long-term summer basecamp or a series of affordable weekend trips. The owners' commitment to maintaining a peaceful environment ensures that your stay won't be interrupted by the noise and crowds typical of larger commercial facilities.

Furthermore, the campground serves as an ideal jumping-off point for exploring the wider wonders of the Endless Mountains and North Central Pennsylvania. After a morning spent fishing the Little Muncy, you are just a short drive from world-class hiking or local country stores that offer a taste of authentic regional culture. The combination of its remote, "tucked away" feel and its remarkably easy access from PA-118 makes it a logistical gem. Stayed here Memorial day weekend. We had a great relaxing stay at this remote family owned campground. This isn't like a KOA. We had a great spot along the Little Muncy Creek. I caught a few trout on the fly rod right in front of the RV. Has a fire ring and picnic table. My kids enjoyed the rope swings. Very affordable and owners are very friendly. Will come back again.
